The Cowboys may be high on Florida tight end Kyle Pitts, but they won’t trade up to land him or any other player, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com (on Twitter) hears. With less than one week to go until the NFL Draft, it sounds like Jerry Jones & Co. will be standing pat at No. 10.

Drafting Pitts would require the Cowboys to move up several spots — perhaps as high as No. 4. Of course, that’d be costly, especially after the 49ers set the market by sacrificing a 2022 third-round pick and two future first rounders in order to advance from No. 12 to No. 3. Meanwhile, the Cowboys have much more pressing needs to address in the draft including cornerback, offensive tackle, and safety.
Pitts, a quarterback in high school, moved to tight end at UF and quickly put himself on the NFL radar. Last year, he snagged 43 catches for 770 yards and 12 touchdowns in just eight games, finishing out with an eye-popping 17.9 yards per grab. Right now, it seems unlikely that the Dolphins will allow him to fall beyond No. 6. Meanwhile, many prognosticators (and PFR readers) expect the Falcons to snag Pitts at No. 4.
Dallas isn’t or wasn’t taking Pitts by trading up or otherwise. JJ loves to posture. Teams ahead of the 10th spot are being encouraged to draft Pitts to help free up the other player he really wants.
Jerry isn’t doing anything to “encourage” other teams to draft Pitts within the top 10 when he wasn’t going to slip past 7 or 8 regardless.
So who takes pitts before 10? There are 3 stud wr. Cowboys only have lamb and Cooper only has one team year after next year . I would take surtain or Sewell if there but Jones has temptation
If the Falcons don’t take him at 4, Miami will at 6. The Cowboys also have Gallup, WR is the least of their needs.
Gallup gone after this year . Cooper could be if cowboys cut him and won’t take a hit
No real value for the Cowboys in making that kind of move and historically they’ve had pretty good luck finding future HOFers outside the top 10 picks.
The Cowboys have no need to move. They will have the best pick of their biggest needs at 10. All the corners should be there and they might get lucky with both tackles sitting there. Might even be able to get a team to bite in a trade up and still get value.
Cowboys were never going to get Pitts. In all reality, he is not the answer either. They have bigger needs to fill for the shape of that roster.
Cowboys taking Sewell or Slater you can book it. The Cowboys want to protect the well overpayed Dak.
Surtain, unless they expect Smith to miss significant time in 2021.
After their massive troubles in getting quality backup tackle play the last two years, I think the Cowboys would certainly draft a lineman at 10 if a good one is available.
Sewell and Slater will both be gone in the 5-8 picks. No luck, Cowboys.
