It’s been quiet on the Cowboys trade front, but chatter is starting to pick up. During an appearance on 105.3 The Fan, Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones revealed that the team has started to receive hits on the No. 10 pick.

“It’s really just starting to pick up,” Jones said (via Jon Machota of The Athletic on Twitter). “We’re starting to get a few calls.”
Teams are always sniffing around at deals in anticipation of the draft, so this tidbit of news isn’t necessarily shocking nor telling. However, Dallas could see the pick become a hot commodity if any one of Mac Jones, Trey Lance, or Justin Fields falls to the 10th-overall pick. The Cowboys have mostly held on to their first-round picks in recent years; the last time the team moved back in the first round was 2013 (the team also traded their 2019 first-rounder in a 2018 trade for Amari Cooper).
Of course, the Cowboys could also just keep the draft pick and fill one of their key needs, whether it be cornerback, offensive tackle, or safety. We heard earlier this month that Jerry Jones was “infatuated” with tight end Kyle Pitts, but Dallas would surely need to make a trade up the draft in order to acquire the highly touted prospect.
I think the Cowboys should trade back. Pick up some extra draft picks and work on that secondary.
No one ask
I agree Bearded Texas Hulk, they need warm bodies on low cost deals.
Is that the 10th pick of the day or Jerra’s 10th pick of his nose for the day?
From who? NFL teams?
I’ve heard a few FCF teams are interested. maybe the premier league as well (they’re football, right, or is it the other one?)
I’m actually personally interested.
Oh boy! Jerry’s got another headline!
Dallas should throw their HC into any offer because that dude sucks!
Listening to offers for pick #10 sounds like a smokescreen. I’d bet money that Dallas moves UP in the draft to make a sure-fire play for Pitts.
On the flip side, all the QB hype this year has made many top players slide down the draft order a bit, meaning you might get #5 value with the #10 pick. Teams outside the top 10 might be tempted by this.
Agreed. This is Jone’s fodder. The teams who would trade up for one of those QBs will wait til the draft to see if they fall. No one will make that trade in advance.
So much of the leaks are obvious posturing, nothing more than fluff to scare a team on the fence to jump above them before somebody else does. I wish the draft were today so we could avoid these baseless leaks for another week and a half.
If the draft were today, all the rumors would have just started a week and a half earlier.
Okay, let’s be honest the wheeling and dealing makes the draft exciting. Boom out of no where a major trade. It’s better for the rumor mill. If Surtain is there, and they pass on him, they’ve made a mistake and they gift wrapped him for the Eagles.
That being said, if the trade was with the Patriots and they landed Gilmore, sign me up.
Would the Cowboys trade Lamb for #4 and take Pitts? Julio and Lamb great combo.
Doubtful. They are likely to lose Gallup to FA. Need Lamb.
The Cowboys have less than zero cap after signing Zeke Elliott, Amari Cooper and Dak Prescott to top of market deals. For the last five years at least, Jones negotiates contracts very poorly – he should be trading off overpriced talent and drafting more (they Cowboys have one of the best college talent evaluation teams in football). Jones is losing his nerve and his wits and there is no one to take his place.
