A man filed a police report accusing Aaron Donald of committing assault outside a bar in Pittsburgh, KDTV reports. The alleged incident occurred in the morning hours of April 11.
The accuser, DeVincent Spriggs, intends to press charges against the superstar Rams defensive lineman, whom Spriggs alleges attacked him after the two were asked to leave a bar on Pittsburgh’s South Side. Police have not issued a charge against Donald, a Pittsburgh native.
Spriggs’ attorney said his client accidentally bumped into Donald inside the nightclub. This led to an argument and both being asked to leave the club, with Spriggs’ attorney then indicating Donald confronted Spriggs and began punching and kicking him outside the venue, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Mick Stinelli. Spriggs, who admits to throwing a bottle of alcohol at some point during the proceedings, required hospitalization. He suffered a broken eye socket, a broken nose, a concussion and required 16 stitches.
Neither Donald, 29, nor Spriggs, 26, are named in the police report. This does not appear to have progressed to the point a possible Donald suspension would be in play, but the Rams are monitoring the situation. The six-time All-Pro has missed just two games in his seven seasons; both came because of a 2017 holdout.
Sounds like the type of injuries that you would expect to get in a bar fight with Aaron Donald.
Saw something where the bouncer said that the idiot picked a fight with Donald, got whipped and now wants a payday.
Note to AD: Right or Wrong, what were you doing at a bar at 3:00 AM? Nothing good happens in a bar after 2:00AM.
They’ll settle and he’ll still get paid for way less than he wants….but probably not worth the a$$ beating he took.
While I agree on the bar/club at 3am….good luck changing the mind of 20 year olds with millions of dollars and fans.
You wouldn’t take a beating for $10,000+?
The kind he got listed above? Nope…I don’t need it that bad.
I worked in bars long enough to know plenty of awesome things happen after 2am.
Same here, sounds like Donald took care of a Druken A-hole who tends to ruin it for everybody else.
Good for him
This also isn’t Aaron Donald’s first legal incident after leaving a bar in the southside after midnight either though. In college at Pitt he broke the glass storefront of a business and it was a long time ago so my memory is hazy but I vaguely recall it was because he threw a person against the building and he broke through the glass.
That wasn’t Donald that was jabal sherred or something like that. Pitt has had a lot of nfl talent
That’s right it was Sheard. Totally my bad
wow what a shocker
I know, the low life payday people really deafened out the legit cases of a player doing something stupid.
“This does not appear to have progressed to the point a possible Donald suspension would be in play, but the Rams are monitoring the situation.”
What about the league? Or does he get preferential treatment? Being a superstar player and all… 🙂
Authors on this app don’t always do the best at wording their articles. The league is undoubtedly also monitoring the situation…and if Donald is at all guilty, he will face league discipline, including, but not limited to, suspension. Even if the guy provoked him, because he is in the public high, he will be held to a standard, and the NFL will not take it lightly. I would not at all be surprised if he gets at least a 4 game suspension. The saying goes…a picture is worth a thousand words…and that picture of the guy he allegedly beat…is ugly. Provoked or not, if Donald did cause that damage…he obviously took it too far.

did Big Ben or Zeke Elliot
Throwing a glass bottle at Aaron Donald will not go down as one of this guys better ideas…..
Yeah, I’ll guess that realization kicked in somewhere between “healthy” and “16 stitches and a concussion…”
Sadly he will most likely face punishments even if it was self-defense. The saying Innocent until proven guilty is gone. It’s now Guilty till proven innocent… What a sick world we live in.
Awww. The world is SOOO unjust.
How many times does this need to be said? Innocent until proven guilty is only applicable to the courts. The NFL does not need a conviction in a court of law to discipline someone. We, as fans, do not need a conviction in a court of law before forming an opinion on the subject. And it has *never* been any other way, so please can the nostalgic waxings for a society that never existed.
And further, nothing has happened to Donald yet, at all, so your complaint holds no water.
it’s not about innocent or guilty. it’s all about perception
Uh oh…
At least it wasn’t a woman!!
Because men are worth less…? Oh wait, we are
(I know you said this in reference to punishment, so this statement is not directed at you)
Well go on and chuck Another bottle at one of the best Interior lineman to ever play in the NFL and that’s what happens.
“Who admits to throwing a bottle of alcohol at some point during the proceedings.” Sorry pal, this is not going to be the payday you were hoping for. Hope you can afford that attorney.
This guy probably doesn’t even want it to go to court. He just wants to settle and get a nice pay day. He saw an opportunity and he took it. He probably recognized Donald and said “hey if this dude beats me up, I’ll get paid!”. Believe it or not people actually do that. No to mention Donald is a huge dude so most normal people wouldn’t pick a fight with a guy that big unless they either have a deathwish or they recognize him as being a wealthy celebrity/pro athlete.
Ehhh I don’t know how much you recognize people drunk at a bar in the dark. He probably did bump into Donald, who has had his issues controlling his temper on the field that we’ve seen, and Donald confronted him, which led to the victim doing the same. Sounds like they both did what angry drunken people in a bar do. None of us were there, so who knows if one is more guilty than the other in how they handled things, but it sounds like this will be worked out quickly.
with a transfer of cash
Exactly. Which, depending on the situation, might be fair. It’s between those two.
He’s already made an absolute fortune in his career. I know he’s a huge dude and can take care of himself, but hire somebody to do it for you! Hire one of these linemen that get cut in camp, make him your so called bodyguard to take care of issues like this.
Anyone dumb enough to try assaulting the 280 lb Donald must have season tickets to the Pirates games.
How about an update? Accuser admits he was wrong about Donald’s role and apologizing.
