A day after they secured their trip to the Super Bowl, the Chiefs have made a change to their practice squad:
Kansas City Chiefs
- Released: OT Prince Tega Wanogho
The former Auburn standout was a sixth-round pick by the Eagles in this past year’s draft, and he spent the majority of the 2020 campaign on Philly’s practice squad. He caught on with Kansas City’s practice squad last week, providing the organization with some extra depth along the offensive line.
That depth will be tested during the Super Bowl, as we learned earlier today that left tackle Eric Fisher tore his Achilles in the AFC Championship Game. The team is also expected to be without right tackle Mitchell Schwartz during the championship game. Perhaps the team will look to sign a veteran offensive lineman to their practice squad with Wanogho’s former spot.
Dam that sucks….released right before the SB….I dunno how rings work and if practice squad players even get them….but ouch anyway…..
for what it’s worth he was only with them about a week. I think his claim to a ring would be a little tenuous at best.
hope the Eagles can grab him back
Redskins need another left tackle. Wanogho projected higher originally. Wonder why he went so low/languished on a practice squad.
And; I just Hope/ Pray that the Brain trust of the New Org is Hot on heels of these New announcements!!
Somebody should jump on this opportunity immediately.
Was #12 ranked OT in 2020.
Practically in the top 100 ranked players in the 2020 draft.
32 career starts at LT.
Academic Honor Roll multiple times.
Standout DE in High School.
I’m surprised he was released and not promoted given their OL injury issues. I know there’s an extra week before the SB, but anyone coming from another team would have a quarantine issue that would limit practicing with the team before the big game.
We’ve had o line problems all year, we will be fine.
