Seahawks defensive tackle Damon Harrison asked for his release, and the team will oblige his request, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL.com (on Twitter). For Snacks, the final straw was his healthy scratch for Sunday’s game against the Rams.
“We’re going to talk [on Monday],” Carroll said after the game. “I just know that he was disappointed that he wasn’t active for this game. That’s what we’re talking about.”
Even if that conversation happens, it probably won’t change much. Harrison, a first-team All-Pro in 2016, was leapfrogged by the return of Bryan Mone, and that left him feeling slighted.
“Didn’t want to [leave Seattle] but it’s time,” Harrison tweeted. “I came here to help and I’ve done that and now it’s time to move on. I came back this year to play and that’s all I want. Team is back healthy and playing really well..it’s my time to head out. Still all love and respect for the ‘Hawks!”
In typical Harrison fashion, he performed as a solid run-stuffer with less-than-solid showings on passing plays. Pro Football Focus gave him an overall score of 68.1 — his 81.7 ground grade was weighed down by his 47.9 passing mark. Mone, meanwhile, has been more balanced with 61.6 and 63.1 scores.
Harrison leaves Seattle with nine tackles and a forced fumble in six games. Meanwhile, the Seahawks — sans Snacks — will roll into the playoffs as the NFC West champs.
While I love the play and heart Snacks gives, this is becoming a pattern. He now admits he forced his way out of the Giants, asked to be released by the Lions and now asking for his release by the Seahawks. He’s a decent player, as the article points out he is only effective now as a run stopper. He’s far removed from his All-Pro ear of 2016. It may be time to get a little humble and realize he’s just not what he was.
Last time I checked there were still several terrible defenses that could use a good run stuffer in short yardage situations. How are we expected to enjoy the game of football without any Snacks?
I wonder if Green Bay will cycle back & see if he has an interest.
He didn’t want to go to Green Bay because of his bad knees and playing in the cold. That hasn’t changed. Packers should pass.
Surprising that he’s ready to leave when they’re heading to the playoffs but he must have something lined up with more playing time with another playoff team. Injuries happen and he could have seen a bigger role but hey, it’s a free country.
Washington just released Haskins.
Little Debbie has an opening for a spokesman named “Snacks”.
I hate when players ask to be released when they aren’t playing as much as they want versus competing to get better and try to beat out the other players.
Guy is 32 and has 30+ million in the bank…plus now if the SwapDucks win the SB, gets a ring. I’d trade places with this guy

I understand Harrison’s gripe. Mone did not just leapfrog him, Harrison was apparently supposed to play yesterday. Mone suddenly on game day was activated instead. Considering Harrison’s age and his rejection of other offers to stay in Seattle to play this year, I actually understand his desire to go.
The offer he rejected was from Tampa. Considering their loss of Vea (which is about when they made the offer), and their expected playoff run (which of course means at least two more games this year), I would not be surprised to see him go there.
