As Brett Kern deals with a wrist injury, the Titans have turned to one of the top punters on the market. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports (via Twitter) that Tennessee has signed Ryan Allen.
Allen made a name for himself by spending the first six seasons of his career with the Patriots, winning three Super Bowl rings. The Louisiana Tech product was a standout during Super Bowl LIII, with three of his five punts pinning the Rams inside the 20-yard line.
He inked a one-year extension with the Patriots the following offseason, but he ultimately lost his job to rookie Jake Bailey ahead of the 2019 campaign. Allen subsequently signed with the Falcons, and he proceeded to appear in eight games for them during the 2019 campaign. The 30-year-old was cut by Atlanta back in August, and he’s been sitting in free agency ever since.
In Tennessee, Allen will be reuniting with former Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski, although you’ve got to assume that Allen’s stay with the Titans will be short. After all, Kern is a three-time Pro Bowler, and while his wrist injury will sideline him this weekend against the Bears, he should probably be back before the season ends.
Tennessee: Pats South
They have a better record.
Bet he is happyy to not be with the pats anymore s. They ar terrible looks like it isn’t bellicheck teams like it was tb12 team. Agree?
I personally believe it was a mutual relationship; neither would have achieved a dynasty without the other. Brady has always been up to the task, but also benefited from Belichick’s defensive schemes and excellent management. Some memorable finds include Gronk in the second round, Randy Moss for a fourth round pick, Wes Welker as a Dolphins castoff, and an aging Corey Dillon. Their offensive line coach was also legendarily proficient at his job. It definitely helped to be blocked by the likes of Mankins, Light, Mason, and countless others.
On the other hand, Bill would not have been nearly as successful without one of the most dedicated quarterbacks in NFL history. Brady has remained in extraordinary physical condition throughout his career and only suffered one significant injury. Quarterback remains the NFL’s most important position and Brady undoubtedly put the Patriots in a position to succeed each year.
I will say, Belichick’s drafting skills have declined recently and it might be in New England’s best interest to find a new general manager. That said, I don’t believe it would be fair to discredit Bill for the part he played in a fantastic run of success in a salary-capped league
Okay letttts gooooo!!!
The Pats lost much more than just Brady this offseason. That defense is showing a lot of new starters this year.
