The Packers have run into more trouble with the coronavirus, joining several teams in that regard this week. After seeing COVID-19 deplete their backfield, the Packers learned one of their starting defenders played Thursday night before testing positive Friday morning, Adam Schefter of ESPN.com tweets.
Linebacker Krys Barnes landed on Green Bay’s reserve/COVID-19 list Friday. The Packers also placed rookie quarterback Jordan Love on the list. Barnes tested positive for the coronavirus, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com tweets. It is not known if Love has tested positive. He may well be a close contact. Players do not have to test positive to be placed on a team’s reserve/COVID list.
Considering the timeline here, this is obviously a key situation for the Packers. A UDFA out of UCLA, Barnes started and played 25 snaps for the Packers. He left the game with a calf injury. Barnes has started all but one Packers game this season.
The Packers were already without running backs A.J. Dillon and Jamaal Williams; Dillon tested positive earlier this week.
Good thing they have. A week and a half to recover. All should be fine
Yeah let’s play football in a pandemic. Loved watching that 49er JV team last night
Well, it is their job. And unlike you and I, they can only work at their job for 3-5 years if they’re fortunate.
Rather have JV football than nothing at all. A 99.9% non fatal virus isn’t worth shutting the league down for.
The 49ers were decimated by injuries. The COVID scare simply benched a couple of their second stringers.
OH NO! Now we’re without our #1 draft pick…what are we gonna do? For most teams that might actually be an issue, but luckily the Packers took a guy who wasn’t gonna play for 3 years anyways LOL.
Jokes aside, best wishes in recovery to them both…as well as everyone else who has the misfortune of coming down with Covid-19
What if Love tests positive and spread ‘Rona to the QB room.
Starting QB – Manny Wilkins?
Now Love has gone from useless to potentially a burden to the season…while we watch Chase Claypool, Tee Higgins and Laviska Shenault start and kill it….yeah…there weren’t any receivers on the board who could play for us. Pathetic.
When are NFL teams gonna learn, whenever a guy is called “the next” anybody…they end up as a bust. Hey look, this guy is a about the same size and skin tone as Patrick Mahomes with a little mobility and throws hard…Hes the next Patrick Mahomes!!! Never mind that when you actually watch him play he hits the open linebacker on mid range throws with alarming consistency. It doesn’t matter how hard you throw if you can’t read a defense…Exhibit A…. Jameis Winston.
It seemed to work for them with Aaron Rodgers

So that’s supposed to mean something? Just because they are both QB’s who were drafted by the same team is insignificant. Completely different situations (Favre kept saying he was going to retire, Rodgers just signed on for 5 more years) and skill levels. Rodgers was under consideration for the #1 overall pick in the draft and fell to the Packers at #27. Green Bay TRADED UP in order to reach for a project QB in Jordan Love.
Your comment makes about as much sense as saying “well Tom Brady worked out pretty good for the Pats, guess that means Stidham is going to be a Hall of Famer too”
