The “presumptive positive” test result for a Jets player has proven to be a false positive, per a club announcement. With that, their upcoming game against the Cardinals is on track to be played as scheduled.
“This evening, we received negative PCR COVID-19 test results for all players, coaches and personnel,” the team said in a statement. “Following a presumptive positive COVID-19 test and out of an abundance of caution to ensure everyone’s health and safety, we sent all players and personnel home this morning. We also initiated all NFL mandated protocols including player isolation, subsequent testing, and contact tracing.
“As we have thus far, we will continue to follow required health and safety protocols in the best interests of our coaches, players, staff and community. We look forward to our game this Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals.”
This comes on the heels of some good news for the Patriots and Titans, who received new positives in the last week. The latest round of testing came back negative for both clubs, which means they could resume practice on Saturday if everything remains stable.
Good!
Thank God. I just don’t know what I would do without Jets games in my life
Wagner, just like we (never) say about the Jets, good to see you again.
(kidding about the Jets thing but maybe not in any case Jets fans y’all really deserve better my prayers are with you)
Probably be happier and live a more full and rewarding life that hasn’t had years taken off of it by the constant abuse and anguish the Jets have put you through. I say this as a Texans fan. I wish I could end the abusive relationship myself.
The Texans just need to find someone willing to work with Watson instead of exercising his power whenever possible. O’Brien always wanted to prove he was the smartest in the room and his ego ran him right out of Houston.
I know this may be an unpopular opinion, but perhaps the Texans could trade Watt. Stick with Watson and Tunsil as your franchise cornerstones and just work your way back up. JJ’s contract is almost up and the Texans need some reinforcements in the way of draft capital. A win-now team could be desperate and surrender a second or low first rounder
Texans just need to NOT trade future picks.
They really need to find a good scout and coach for oline. That is their one biggest issue every season.
They’ve invested in the position immensely
Tunsil trade, Howard (1st 2019), Sharping (2nd round 2019), Rankin (3rd round 2018), Charlie Hack (4th round 2020). But they’ve blown pretty much every pick.
2019 – Jawaan Taylor went to Jacksonville a few picks later than Tytus Howard. DK Metcalf went a few picks after Sharping which would have been a good pick to replace Hopkins due to his contract dispute.
2018 – Orlando Brown Jr went a few picks after Martines Rankin and only lasted 1 season in Houston and is now in KC.
Twice now Houston has dealt two top 10 picks (#4 for the Watson trade a few years back that become Denzel Ward) and this years may wind up top 10.
If I am Houston, you don’t have a 1st or 2nd, you have a 3rd, 2 4ths. I am bringing in people to fix the oline and getting oline and a big bodied receiver for Watson.
“Safer” picks would be.
3rd round WR – Terrance Marshall Jr LSU or Warren Stewart Colorado State
4th round Oline – Austin Deculus LSU
4th round Oline – Stone Forscythe Florida
Big bodied receivers and mammoth oline to play guard.
Get a run blocking TE in later rounders and a FB and DL depth.
That sounds like a decent plan to reconstruct the offense, but I still have concerns about their run defense and secondary in the long-term.
Mercilus has never been stout in that regard, while Scarlett has been an obvious weakness in this early season. They’re struggling to defend the ground game on the edge and it does not help that Dunn and Blacklock have struggled with injury and inexperience respectively. Lonnie Johnson has not produced and it remains to be seen if they can bring back Conley
Houston will always have a chance with an elite signal caller in DeShaun, but it might be better to step back and sacrifice a season or two to build for the future. The team, as currently constructed, appears too flawed to compete with the likes of KC and Baltimore. I understand this must be frustrating for you
Covid and cancelations are the best chance the jets have at not losing
Change my mind – Steven Crowder
The Jets only home loss to the Cardinals occurred when Jim Hart had his best career day passing (158.3 passer rating). Ken Shipp was the interim HC for the Jets who had fired Charley Winner (a former Cardinals HC) the week prior.
If you think that was fun, in the last Jets home contest between these teams, NYJ eked out a victory in a game of true offensive ineptitude. The starters, Mark Sanchez and Ryan Lindley, combined for a pitiful 20/52 for 169 yards and 4 picks. How exciting!!
I’m guessing that is the last time the Jets won a game while commiting 4 turnovers. It would have been rather embarrassing to lose to a team that went 0-15 on 3rd down conversions.
false positive, told you!!!
