On Saturday, the 49ers put a pair of former first-round notables on the curb. Defensive end Dion Jordan and Kevin White were dropped from the roster as a part of the club’s 20+ cuts on Saturday.
Jordan’s NFL career has taken some odd turns, to say the least. After being selected No. 3 overall by the Dolphins, Jordan did little to justify his pre-draft hype. After some underwhelming seasons, missed seasons, and a number of suspensions, Jordan found his way to the Seahawks in 2017. In 2018, he showed some promise as a rotational piece, and he parlayed that into a one-year deal with the Raiders. He hooked on with the Niners in early August, but he didn’t get to stay for long.
White, a former No. 7 overall pick of the Bears, came out of West Virginia with tons of hype. Over the last five years, injuries have limited him to just 14 games. The Niners have been decimated by injuries at wide receiver, but they still didn’t see enough out of White’s ~1 week audition to keep him. For his career, White has 25 catches for 285 yards and zero touchdowns.
Here’s the full rundown of the 49ers’ cuts:

I guess that means Ben Garland will start at Center for now.
If he is healthy, if not I honestly wouldn’t be surprised in the least to see Grasu or Shepley actually starting Week 1..
Brunskill is just worlds better at RG than any of their other options, and he struggled mightily snapping the ball..So, it stands to reason, someone else is going to get that job of Garland cannot go come Week 1. Hopefully, Garland is able to make it though../:
Kept hearing some rumor about a trade and hear it still could happen by Monday. Wonder if there’s any truth to that. Hear it’s for a WR. Really don’t think there’s many areas of need for them. They have a little over 18 million in cap space now after fords restructure so they could be trying to land a wr that’s owed a decent amount of money but I think they should use that to extend Trent Williams or lock up some of their free agents they have up coming for next offseason
Alshon Jeffrey, maybe? He has a huge cap hit though. I could see him in Carolina, depending on how they do their rebuild, but the 9ers have made it pretty clear that another WR is on their radar for now. I wonder who it is that they’d go for this late into the offseason. Treadwell got to learn Atlanta’s playbook, which has some Shanahan vestiges in it, but he’s a FA now. Same with Sanu, who is a good blocker there, which is important in Shanahan’s scheme. They could use a possession guy, which plays to Garappolo’s play style.
Trent Taylor will be their possession WR, and the 3rd Down go to guy for Jimmy G and Shanahan..
If anything, I think they really need more of a speed guy that can go over the top of the defense and stretch the field..That’s really the only thing they’re missing, but I guess only time will tell the tale…
Also, as previously stated, the 49ers are going to have about 25 of their own free agents next offseason…So, it is likely that the 49ers are just going ahead and creating some extra cap flexibility, so they can either get someone extended, or they can go ahead and roll over that money..
If I’m the 49ers though, Trent Williams has looked so amazing this far, I would go ahead and make him one of the highest paid LTs, despite his age. He has come into the 49ers practices amd jus thg dominated everyone they have thrown ag him… He has quickly reminded everyone why he was going to.be a virtual lock for the H.O.F when his career is all said am done..The dude is a pass blocking MACHINE, he is just a beast!!
Thanks for providing us with a good laugh. Trent Williams a HOF lock? You probably think Ereck Flowers will be inducted in Canton too.
welp Trent was a 7x pro bowler from 2012-2018. ereck flowers has 0 awards in his nfl career so way to make a terrible comparison
Maybe I should have said, he should be a virtual lock, with as talented and as good as he is, but the fact you even brought those two up in the same sentence just screams troll.
The only reason you’d disagree is you’re either a complete moron, or you’re a Washington “Football Team” homer that is salty Williams left..
Which is it, because nothing else makes sense whatsoever..!? Every player agrees that Williams is the most talented and gifted LT in the league, and he has been for quite some time..
That’s okay, continue living on blissfully ignorant…Must be nice living with primary concerns that revolve around Axe deodorant, your cousins Netflix password, and your Premium POF account…
easy buddy. next time just be a bigger man and do try to attack him personally. I mean you just showed you’re no better than him
Jordan back to Seattle?
It looks like White,s pro football career is over if he was notvinjury prone he might of been a good WR
Agreed.
Probably a trade for phillys wide receiver
I wonder what their PS will end up looking like!?…
Grasu
Daniels
Hasty
Harrell
Harris
Cyprien
Poindexter
Jennings
Shepley
Mayden
Barrett
Foster
White
Jones-Smith
I think the first 10 are virtual locks, but after that I dont have a clue which players they’ll either keep or add to fill out the rest..
I’m still disappointed that the 49ers ended up keeping Coleman over Hasty. Not saying I don’t completely understand why they chose the veteran Coleman over Hasty, but Hasty was just an absolute nightmare for even the 49ers top flight coverage LBs in space..
Hopefully he will get a shot sooner rather than later, Hasty is definitely a potential weapon out of the backfield
