The Raiders have already allocated more resources than usual to their linebacker spots this year, signing Cory Littleton and Nick Kwiatkoski. They are still looking for veteran help.
Mychal Kendricks landed on the Raiders’ radar, and the team attempted to sign him, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com tweets. The former Eagles, Browns and Seahawks linebacker, however, could not come to terms with the Raiders and remains a free agent.
The former Super Bowl starter faces not only a pending court date after pleading guilty to insider trading but is attempting to return to action after suffering an ACL tear. However, Kendricks has been medically cleared and has seen his court date postponed numerous times since his 2018 plea.
Spending the past two seasons in Seattle, Kendricks played 14 games last year. The 29-year-old ‘backer already served an eight-game suspension for the insider trading crime. He bounced back last year, starting 14 games and playing extensively alongside Bobby Wagner and K.J. Wright on passing downs. The Seahawks used their base defense often last season; Kendricks played 61% of Seattle’s defensive snaps. He finished with 71 tackles, three sacks, an interception and a forced fumble. The Seahawks, however, drafted Jordyn Brooks in Round 1 and let Kendricks walk in free agency.
Kendricks brings far more starting experience than Kwiatkoski and resides as one of the best remaining free agents. He may need to lower his asking price in order to land with Las Vegas, however.
cant play football from prison
Eagles super bowl year….Bradham-Hicks-Kendricks.
This year….Gerry-Edwards-?????
Really don’t understand why they undervalue the position as much as they do.Its like all the years with McNabb, that we just refused to add receivers.
Insider Trading and the Nevada Gaming Control Board would indicate a league minimal contract.
This is how these pampered supposedly oppressed athletes are treated. If it was you or I we would not have a choice to delay sentencing. By the the time he is sentenced it will be a slap on his wrist. But yet the oppressed kneels for the anthem. Screw the nfl. I wonder if they will ever feel the effects of fans calling it quits with the nfl?
Fans haven’t called it quits with the NFL. Just watch you’ll see that when the TV numbers come out for week 1 of this NFL Season in less than a month.
If there is a season.
Unless the NFLPA agrees to bubble cities for AFC and NFC, or sticks to two states at least, theyll have issues just like MLB.
Theyll also be playing during winter months which increase chances they can get sick and doubt guys will be wearing masks as they reduce air flow when you’re engaging in prolonged physical activity.
Cram it fear monger libtard.
I’m not sure how Kendrick’s keeps getting interest. At some point, eventually, he’ll miss time due to his sentence. He is also fresh off a major injury. He is not exactly young. Kendricks was a decent linebacker, but hardly a star. He must have one hell of an agent.
Raiders would seem to have been a good fit for him but maybe he’s hoping he can be a part of the Cowboys reclamation program if Aldon Smith flops.
Kendricks has nothing to do with the delays at first it was for more serious crimes now it is Covid related. In the plea Kendricks paid all the money back with interest and admitted to his crime. He took full responsibility for it. There has been rumor he will do community service as way of punishment. He played really well for Seattle wish we could have him back.
He did that to delay his court date. His lawyers requested that. If you get caught, you don’t get to keep the money. It wasn’t out of the pure goodness of his heart.
