It sounds like players and agents are making progress in getting guaranteed money for all first rounders. ESPN’s Dan Graziano reports (via Twitter) that 49ers wideout Brandon Aiyuk (No. 25) and Packers quarterback Jordan Love (No. 26) received fully guaranteed rookie deals.
This is a significant difference from last year, when only the first 24 picks received fully-guaranteed deals. Last year’s 25th and 26th picks were Ravens receiver Marquise Brown and Redskins defensive end Montez Sweat, respectively. It’s worth pointing out that both the 49ers and Packers traded up for those aforementioned rookies, so it’s not shocking that the front offices were comfortable enough giving guaranteed money.
San Francisco sent No. 31, No. 117, and No. 176 to Minnesota for No. 25, which they used on Aiyuk. The Arizona State product earned first team All-Pac-12 honors in 2019 after hauling in 65 receptions for 1,192 yards and eight touchdowns. The wideout should have a chance to contribute immediately for San Francisco; Emmanuel Sanders departed in free agency while second-year pro Deebo Samuel recently suffered a broken foot. The 49ers signed Aiyuk to his rookie deal last month.
The Packers surprised many when they traded No. 30 and No. 136 to Miami in order to select Love at No. 26. The quarterback got into 13 games for Utah State in 2019, completing 61.9-percent of his passes for 3,402 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 17 interceptions. While the three rookie QBs drafted in front of him will be starting sooner than later, Love will likely serve as Aaron Rodgers‘ backup for the next few years. The Packers signed their rookie quarterback earlier this week.
49ers are going to need Aiyuk to catch on fast if Deebo cant go early..
Although, Kittle, Juice, Aiyuk, Bourne, and then Taylor and Hurd should be enough weapons for Jimmy G and Kyle Shannahan to go along with the running game, and guys coming out of the backfield…Hopefully..
Mark my words by year three Jordan love will be the starting quarterback for the Green Bay Packers
Your one of the few my man
Why draft him? To keep him on the bench? Rogers & GB will be around .500 this year 9 wins tops. Then they’ll trade him for picks.
I see at least 8 wins off the bat for Green Bay. Assuming they split the 6 division games (went 6-0 last year) there’s 3 then have the falcons at home, Jags, panthers, titans at home in December and one of colts or eagles. Then you have games left against the saints, Bucs, 49ers and Texans. Split those you’re a 10-6 team
I don’t think Aaron is going to give his best. Why should he, out of respect? He wants out after GB grabbed Love and his play will reflect that.
Aaron only gives his best. He’s not the type of player not to give his best.
I agree, he’s going to play angry. Would not be surprised if he lights up the league next year. That’s said, they still need to address the WR depth.
Aaron Rogers clearly doesn’t want out because they drafted a quarterback, he wants to show everyone that he is still the elite quarterback that he has been. This year he will be more familiar with the coach’s offense.
Dream on…..
Its funny how Rodgers gets this bad rap for his ego and being a bad guy.. As Favre said he thinks Rodgers will be a good sport about it. I mean Aaron wont go out of his way to help Jordan but iff Jordan wants some intake Aaron will be there.. As Favre said its not Aaron job go Mentor His backup. But, it sure put a chip on Rodgers shoulder. You never hear any of his teamates or former teamates say bad things bout Rodgers i dont get why he gets a bad rap. Heck he use to buy his OL gifts for christmas every yr. 1 yr he bought them all big HD Tvs.. Im thinking at best He will be in GB thru 2022. Unless they get an offer in 2022 for multiple 1st round picks and can dump salary he aint going anywhere.. But just like Montana Brady Manning Favre he will finish his Career else where.. My prediction Chargers or Raiders
Big HD TVs huh? I hope at $66.9 million/year (or whatever his salary is) he can afford them…
But I bet if somebody mentions wealth inequality you call them a socialist?
Lol….
Enjoy your Bear’s quarterback that you traded up for, lol…
Love will be a star, I have watched him for 3 years, reason for increase in picks last year was coaching staff left and were replaced by ones who could not coach a dog to bark.
Also heard lots of injuries hurt Utah St especially at OL
