The Browns have re-signed Rashard Higgins, per a club announcement. The wide receiver will return on a one-year deal, giving him an opportunity to prove himself before trying his hand in free agency next year. 
Higgins came into the league as a fifth-round pick of the Browns and he’ll return to Cleveland for his fifth pro season. Over the past four years, he’s tallied 76 catches for 1,016 yards and seven touchdowns. Those numbers don’t jump off the page, necessarily, but he did shine in 2018 when he finished out with 39 grabs for 572 yards and four scores.
Last year, a knee injury kept him from building on that performance, but a healthy season could put him back on the right track. Most of Baker Mayfield‘s targets will be going to the likes of Odell Beckham Jr., Jarvis Landry, and new addition Austin Hooper, but Higgins could benefit from the double teams against those stars.
In addition to Landry and OBJ, the Browns’ WR depth chart also features JoJo Natson and sixth-round rookie Donovan Peoples-Jones. Higgins is the longest-tenured player of the group.
In a corresponding move, the Browns have also waived defensive tackle Brandin Bryant.
Not so sure it was the “knee injury” so much as Dorsey and his little incompetent yes man – Kitchens.

Baker Mayfield has all the weapons in the world. If he plays bad he is a total bust, yes, worse than Rosen. Darnold outpeformed Baker last year and had Robby Anderson. Mayfield had Beckham, Landry, Higgins and Njoku. Now he gets to keep Becham, Landry, Higgins, and Njoku and adds Natson, Peoples-Jones, and Hooper! He better have a absolute field day! At least 4,600-4,700 yards maybe even 5,000 with all those weapons!
Baker had most of those weapons last year, but it didn’t matter because his line was terrible and his coach was incompetent. Both of those excuses are gone this year though.
kitchens is more to blame for his lack of production last year than injuries
Kitchens is the fall guy for Browns fans who can’t accept they set their expectations unrealistically high. He was a rookie coach who had to play 7 games against playoff caliber opponents. He beat the team with the leagues best record while 3 SB winning coaches (Belichick, Tomlin and Carroll) couldn’t.
Kitchens may have been coach when they beat the Ravens, but it wasn’t because of him. Lamar attempted like 50 passes that game. Through no design of Kitchens
