The entire NFL is convinced that defensive end Chase Young won’t fall past No. 3 overall. In fact, none of the teams picking at No. 4 or lower have reached out to the Ohio State superstar, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com (on Twitter) hears.

At this point, it would be shocking if the Bengals did not select LSU Joe Burrow No. 1 overall, followed by the Redskins taking Young at No. 2. Young’s absolute floor would probably be with the Lions at No. 3 overall. The Lions are believed to be targeting fellow Buckeye Jeff Okudah, and would perhaps trade down before trying to nab him, but they wouldn’t pass up the opportunity to take a potential generational talent in Young.
For what it’s worth, Rapoport also hears that the Redskins have “opened up the possibility” of taking a QB at No. 2. Still, that’d be a stunning move given Young’s potential and the presence of Dwayne Haskins. Recently, Matt Miller of Bleacher Report was told that they are not giving real consideration to a signal caller with the second pick.
According to the advanced metrics at Pro Football Focus, Young’s performance has been positively off the charts. His 2019 score slotted him ahead of Josh Allen (Kentucky, 2018), Nick Bosa (Ohio State, 2017), Myles Garrett (Texas A&M, 2015), and every other collegiate edge rusher dating back to 2014.
Young tallied 17 sacks in 2019, the most of any player in the FBS, despite serving a two-game ban.
How did Josh Allen, QB for the Bills, become a pass rusher?
I hope the Redskins reconsider. To daye, Chase Young is a fair weather player with weak technique. He doesn’t lead, nor does he show much against first rate opposition.
Tua would be an interesting choice, Simmons a safe great choice.
Josh Allen is also the name of the EDGE Buffalo drafted in 2018…
Josh Allen the defensive player was picked by Jacksonville
With 10 sacks last year
Know yo facts you lol good. Smdh ur a dumbass
Someone doesn’t know what they’re talking about
Lots of stories starting to appear about Chase Young’s lack of success against top rated competition…achieved most of his sacks against weaker opponents….I guess you’d have to analyze the game tapes to either agree or disagree…but the buzz is out there for sure!
Where are these stories?
That’s now how internet commenting works. If I make a comment that people question the validity of and I cite stories or articles or whatever. It is not my duty to provide you with such sources. You must take the time to find the sources I am vaguely talking about.
from stories i have seen, TB12 is based on performance enhancing drugs that are masked by drinking pomegrenate juice.
Do you guys ever read or just look at the pictures in stories….didn’t know that you 3 were the deans of the rules of commenting….
Looking at his gamelogs at sports-reference.com/cfb, the only game where he was statistically shut out in 2019 – no tackles (solo or assists), sacks, passes defensed (batted balls), forced or recovered fumbles – was against Michigan on Nov. 30. The next weekend, against the Badgers, he was held without a sack but had six combined tackles, 1.5 for a loss, and 2 PD’s. In the bowl game against Clemson, he was held to only two combined tackles, that’s it.
In 2017, Nick Bosa was blanked by Nebraska and Illinois, and held to one tackle by Penn State.
Just a fyi.
There’s also a josh Allen on defense
It does link to QB Josh Allen, though
Forget about drafting a QB at 2 . No way will Rivera want to start off his tenure by being the guy that passed on the Michael Jordan of the draft . ( Young, not Tua). He also traded for a QB his OC can relate to ; any serious stumble and they blow up the QB spot next year. They’ll get what they can for Trent at the draft -preferably a 2 or a couple of 3s, or a combo of both.
That’s how I see it, too. Unless the Bengals shock the world, and do something crazy at one, the Redskins pick here is a lock. No rookie is a sure thing, but the potential is too great to ignore. Plus I’d imagine Rivera would at least want to get a look at Haskins in his system before investing heavily in another rookie QB. Also, Haskins was said to be a Snyder choice. I know Rivera has full control and all, but here’s the question: do you want to rock the boat while you’re shoving off?
Crazy to think the Giants could have both edge rushers in Josh Allen last year and Chase Young this year.
