The same night the draft ended, the Steelers officially announced their initial 10-man undrafted free agent class:
- FB Spencer Nigh (Auburn)
- OG Christian Montano (Tulane)
- DB Trajan Bandy (Miami (Fla.))
- DB James Pierre (Florida Atlantic)
- LB James Lockhart (Baylor)
- LB Leo Lewis (Mississippi State)
- LB John Houston (Southern California)
- DE Josiah Coatney (Mississippi)
- DE Calvin Taylor (Kentucky)
- P Corliss Waitman (South Alabama/Mississippi State)
Pittsburgh went very heavy on defense. None of these guys are huge name, although a few are notable. Lewis was a four-year starter in the SEC which is always impressive, and Houston was a team captain at USC.
They did a great job covering needs at the draft.
This roster is completely loaded at every position. Superbowl or bust.
Bust!
As a Steelers fan, I can assure you that’s inaccurate. Wormley is not a starting-caliber nose tackle and we still don’t have a sure-thing at runningback. I’m also not too keen on Wisniewski and Edmunds as full-time starters. However, given the restricted cap space, they did alright. They’re at least in position to clinch a playoff berth. Unfortunately, that division is going to be owned by Baltimore
We should have taken Dobbins in the second. Ravens snagged him a few spots later.
Maybe so. I’m not opposed to Claypool though. He’s an under the radar prospect with excellent size and athleticism. I was more disappointed with the Highsmith pick. We really didn’t need another linebacker and could’ve used a defensive tackle or offensive line depth
Dobbins is pedestrian.
Claypool has huge upside and will at least have redzone role y1.
McFarland is more talented than Dobbins. Extremely fast, one-cut back with good hands.
IF he can stay healthy enough to play
Make or break year for a lot of players on the roster. Connor, Washington, McDonald, Edmunds all could easily be in their last year with the team.
Washington already looks like he took a big step forward last year.
Cant wait to see Ben throw him passes
I don’t get the Conner doubters. He’s had two years as a starter. One all pro year, one injury prone year with an offensive line that can play better than they did. I think having Ben back will be huge for Conner. I have no doubt he can get back to his all pro form.
At long last, LEO LEWIS returns to the NFL only instead of the Minnesota Vikings, he’s with the STEELERS !!
HOUSTON now in Pennsylvania !!
