The Dolphins waived six players Saturday; two are now set to join the Packers. Green Bay claimed defensive linemen Gerald Willis and Jamal Davis, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL.com (on Twitter).
While Willis was viewed as a mid-round prospect last year, he tumbled out of the draft. He has spent time with the Ravens and his hometown Dolphins, washing out of both places. The Packers will give the ex-Miami Hurricane defensive tackle a shot to become a rotational cog up front.
An edge player, Davis is already on team No. 6. The UDFA out of Akron spent time with five franchises last year, going to camp with the Texans and landing on the Bills, Colts and Titans’ practice squads. The Dolphins signed him off the Titans’ taxi squad late last season.
Willis played in two Dolphins games; Davis was active for three. Neither saw any NFL action for other teams in 2019.
Still think Willis can develop into something good. Just needs the right structure. Thought that would have been the ravens. Wish him the best in Green Bay.
Shhhh the Patriots traded Gronks rights to the Bucs! Away with this petty squable!
More horrible moves by the worst GM in the history of pro sports. That clown has had two horrible draft classes and has done nothing to help his HOF QB on offense. Outside of signing the Smiths last year, that loser of a GM has done absolutely nothing to improve the Packers. Can’t wait to see the next batch of failures he drafts this week. No way in the world that clown should have any job in the NFL. Even ball boy would be beyond his skill level.
How about signing adrian amos, drafting jaire savage and jenkins. Jury still out on gary, st brown and even mvs. Calm down sir, everyone was willing to give up on dvante as well after year 2, let them develop.
You’re so right. We need teddy back!
Or maybe ask any of the former Cleveland GM’s of the past 25 years how to run a successful organization…
Willis is a nice back up DL who could develop into something
Willis is a good no risk signing by Pack ahead of draft. GM did nice job of fixing defense last year to take the division and get to the NFC championship game. Let’s see if he can add some quality at WR, ILB, IDL and OL through draft and after draft free agency.
Why not. It’s not like it costs the Pack anything more than roster spots. Frees up draft picks for other positions
