The Packers are bringing back a pair of exclusive rights free agents. Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports (via Twitter) that Green Bay has re-signed wide receiver Allen Lazard and cornerback Chandon Sullivan.
Lazard, 24, had a breakout season for the Packers last season, hauling in 35 receptions, 477 receiving yards, and three touchdowns. He also added a 21-yard rushing attempt and six tackles. The 6-foot-5, 227-pound receiver has a chance to be the second wideout behind Davante Adams in 2020, as he’ll be competing with the likes of Devin Funchess and Marquez Valdes-Scantling for targets.
Sullivan, a 2018 undrafted free agent out of Georgia State, appeared in five games for the Eagles as a rookie. He signed with the Packers last offseason and proceeded to appear in 16 games, compiling 30 tackles, six passes defended, one interception, and one forced fumble.
The Packers had previously inked a trio of exclusive rights free agents: tight end Robert Tonyan, wide receiver Jake Kumerow, and defensive end Tyler Lancaster.
Mmmm chicken tenders.
What’s up with GB not drafting any WR’s in a WR heavy draft!!??
NFI, but if you ever figure it out please let us Packers fans know so we can stop pulling our hair out, thanks.
When you realize who had the worst “Bad throw percentage” in the NFL and was 17th in the league in “Accuracy”…one spot ahead of Mitch Trubisky….you’ll realize GB has plenty of WRs. The answer of course is No. 12….don’t believe me, check out football reference.
Heartily agree with you.
But as long as Rodgers is QB1, whether we like it or not, he needs more weapons.
What receiver could they have taken that would be considered a weapon in their rookie year. Higgins and Pitman were top guys available at 30. Do u even know if they break into 4 receiver sets?? 9 receivers on roster will have some breakouts this season. Only time will tell, just love to hear which player u think was a weapon as a rookie they missed drafting.
I never said anything about only next year, yes receivers take time. But Rodgers is around for a few years yet, MINIMUM. You understand how the salary cap works, don’t you?
I think a number of guys from this draft had a better shot at contributing in the next, say two years, than anyone on the Packers’ list not named Davante Adams.Let’s look at the roster:
A Lazard – I love this kid but if he’s the Pack’s WR2 then we’re in trouble
D Funchess – See A Lazard, minus the love.
E St Brown – Potential, but don’t have any hopes beyond maybe WR3-4 on the chart
M Valdez-Scantling – Bust (and don’t try and tell me this kid will come good, he’s beyond it)
J Kumerow – Please!
The others currently on the roster I’m not going to bother mentioning as they are camp fodder at best.
Hahaha about 30 WR’s got drafted the last week that would be straight ‘into the rotation’, even if they were missing a leg, that’s how poor the WR group is.
I don’t mind looking to the future, as that always keeps the Packers competitive, but you have to go for it at some stage, especially with as talented a QB as Rodgers.
Maybe you should stick with the other homers on packers .com…
Packers have 9 WR on roster. Rodgers hates rookie wideouts. The youngsters are ready for their 3 year breakout. Much like it took for Adams and Jordie.
Could have had Higgins or Pitman instead of Love. Do u really think they would be even able to get in rotation? Rodgers been grooming these young guys for last three seasons. I think fans making to big of deal over not drafting wr
LAZARD signs tender with Packers !!
Team is also reportedly interested in signing the GEICO Gecko to a contract – the added plus is that he is already GREEN !!
