At this stage, it’s hard to peg where this year’s top quarterbacks will land in the draft. Right now, Utah State’s Jordan Love is one of the draft’s biggest wildcards at the position, as Ian Rapoport of NFL.com tweets. The feeling is that Love could go anywhere between No. 5 (where the Dolphins pick) and No. 25, per RapSheet.
At least six teams have done extensive research on Love and his seamless throwing mechanics, including the Packers and Patriots. That might mean that Love could land in the Top 15, though the latest word from NFL.com’s Mike Garafolo threw cold water on that idea. Ultimately, because there’s so much information and, potentially, misinformation, flying around about Love, no one’s exactly sure where he’ll go.
There’s been increasing chatter about the Dolphins taking Justin Herbert over Tua Tagovailoa at No. 5, but little discussion about Love being the pick. If the Dolphins do see Love as their QB of the future, they’d probably be able to trade down, add to their already substantial stockpile, and still land him.
Meanwhile, Georgia signal caller Jake Fromm is “buzzing” thanks to strong interviews and praise from NFL quarterback coaches, Rapoport reports. Fromm was once viewed as a potential No. 1 overall pick, but he took himself out of the running with an iffy 2019. Last year, Fromm completed just 60.8% of his throws, the lowest rate of his collegiate career. Still, many evaluators see the potential in Fromm, who led the Bulldogs to the National Championship Game as a true frosh in 2017.
I think Frohm will be the best QB from this draft when careers end.
Ever heard of Joe Burrow?
True.
But have you heard of the Cincinnati Bengals?
Touche’
Only one good year. He has to prove it.
Swordless marlin,
We’re gonna take advice from you a Marlins and Dolphins fan. Cleary your not used to winning teams!
Fromm’s agents burner account
I like Jake if he goes to right team he’ll be good.
agreed, he’d do well with a CFL team
I LOL’d
lolol
darkside,
Who watches Clown Football League. I mean common you get a pt for missing a kick. Even the elite CFL players can’t even make the NFL and be stars unless your Doug Flutie.
flutie, Warren moon, joe theismann, Jeff garcia
Phils,
I already mentioned Flutie. Garcia in NFL 58 Wins 58 loses good record lol!
Lmao
I have watched Love since he was a freshman. He throws the best deep ball of all the prospects. Give hum a year to learn and he will be a very good to great NFL player.
‘Fromm was once viewed as a potential No. 1 overall pick, but he took himself out of the running with an iffy 2019’.
Joe B wasn’t even in the conversation of great QB’s, let alone #1, this time last year. See how bad the scouting community is. This is why there’s a 50% bust rate for 1st rounders. They simply only look at 1 season of football rather than a career.
Fromm never came close to having the season Burrow had last year. Burrow’s season was among the greatest of all-time in terms of the stats he put up against SEC defenses. Fromm looked like an average college QB last year, much less like a first round QB. One season can say a lot
Jake throws a fantastic out route and a pretty good deep ball. His receivers let him down big time this year. I could see him being very successful in the nfl. He’s probably going to have a chance to sit and be on a decent team unlike BDJ who’s gonna get the David Carr treatment next year in Cincy.
I’m not disputing Burrow’s season. But this time last year no one was talking about him. That’s my point. How could the entire scouting community be that wrong about a QB?
Jake will be a really good player. I think Phillip Rivers is kind of his ceiling and Jake Plummer his floor. But that’s coming from a die hard Georgia fan. One thing I’ll promise any team that gets him is that nobody on your team will outwork or out prepare him.
Watched qb1 and seems like a great guy too. At worst he’ll be a backup for over a decade
How well these kids did in college is only half of it. They need consistency and time and they get neither of that going early in the draft. Owners hardly honor coaches contracts and new qbs never get time to learn the playbook from year to year. I’d rather fall to a good team and get paid my next contract.
That’s a great point. Burrow will go #1, I have no doubt. He’ll have an all-pro WR with Green to throw to. The Bengals are picking 1st for a reason though, same as a lot of other teams picking high- they lack talent. It’s hard for any young QB to succeed in a team game without a strong team around them, and why many fail. Lamar Jackson is a great example of a guy who went later where it worked out well.
Love has great mechanics and a great arm, but he doesn’t have great decision making. I watched several Utah State games this season and he made a lot of poor decisions throwing the ball. That is why he had so many picks. He needs time to grow & will be better served sitting and learning behind an established quarterback for a couple of years. If you throw him in as a starter now, he is going to fail
I haven’t seen much of Love, so I’ll trust your take.
I’d rather have a smart QB, who makes sound decisions, over a guy with all the physical tools.
Yeah, he took a big step back in his Junior season.
I’m really high on Fromm. I don’t think he’ll ever be a guy we’re talking about as being elite. He could easily knock on the top 10 in the league’s door though, or bust right on through. I’m not making a direct comparison, mind you, but he reminds me of Brady in some ways. Hard worker. Will be well prepared. I think a smart team takes him if he drops a bit.
Fromm would be a nice pick for GB and letting him sit behind Rodgers for a year or 2 if they could get him with their 2nd round pick
