The Jaguars haven’t gotten any real bites on running back Leonard Fournette and they’re in a similar boat with Yannick Ngakoue, Tom Pelissero of NFL.com hears (on Twitter). The franchise-tagged defensive end has been discussed, but there have been no offers.

Ideally, the Jaguars would like to find a deal for Ngakoue before Thursday night, allowing them to add picks in this year’s draft. But, to get a deal done, they may have to scale back their asking price. At last check, the Jaguars were asking for a first-round pick, plus more.
Every team in the league would love to add Ngakoue, a 25-year-old edge rusher with a long track record of getting to the quarterback. Still, any club trading for him would have to cough up serious draft capital and sign Ngakoue to a whopping new deal. So far, that’s proven to be too rich for everyone’s blood. Meanwhile, Ngakoue says he’s not interested in moving forward with the Jags.
“The Jaguars are aware I no longer have interest in signing a long term contract in Jacksonville,” tweeted Ngakoue after he was franchise tagged “Duval, I love you and gave you guys everything I got. I’m thankful for the journey and look forward to continuing my career elsewhere.”
With at least eight sacks in each of his four NFL seasons – including 12.5 sacks in 2017 – the former third-round pick has outperformed expectations by every measure. But, for what it’s worth, the advanced metrics called his value into question last year. Instead of trading an early round choice for Ngakoue, teams in need of edge help could hold on to their picks and sign the likes of Jadeveon Clowney.
Colts.
Jaguars get the colts 2nd round pick 44th overall. Colts have 2 seconds and send the least favorable.
Colts get Ngakoue and the Jaguars 4th pick number 116 the most favorable of their 4ths.
Colts have about 24 mill in cap space and offer Ngakoue a 4 year 64 mill (16 a year) deal with 30 mill guaranteed.
Only question is will they be willing to deal an impact player within their division? They might have the best offer but it’s something some teams avoid. Idk Jaxs trade history within their division
They’re holding out for a 1st round pick but now are throwing in a 4th in a deal for the Colts 2nd? Lol don’t see that happening
Jets 11 for jags 19 and Ngakoue
I would LOVE that.
I mean that’s valuing him as a mid round 2nd and doubt the Jets can afford to sign him and their draft picks, if y’all include ur own disgruntled player aka Jamal Adams tho could actually add draft capital from the jags and pick up a great pass rusher
I’m down for the eagles trading their 1st Rd pick in the 2021 draft. As an Eagles Dan under no circumstance do I give up the #21 or #53 in this yrs draft unless Howie stays at 21 and has Jefferson or Ruggs falls to them, then Howie should trade the #53 and a 4th and CB- Rasul Douglas or the #53 & 2nd in 2021
How exactly will the Eagles afford to sign him to a new contract? They’re already over the cap for 2021
TB 1st for Ngakoue, Fournette and 3rd rounder.
Lol Bucs got like $13.5M in cap space left so basically $5-6M to actually spend on FAs and the rest is used to sign their draft picks
Dolphins, #26 first round pick and a future fourth for Fournette and Ngakore…
Jags wouldn’t turn down a first
It’s hard to see a path forward for either party here.
The Jags want a 1st, which might be a bit steep. They should realistically consider an early to mid 2nd. They’re getting nowhere near that though so long as Yannick keeps undercutting their leverage.
They don’t need to make up, but they at least need to give off the appearance they have.
“Every team in the league would love to add Ngakoue.” There’s no evidence that this is true. Add a reference, or stop speculating.
The same should be said for your speculation (presented as fact) that “serious draft capital” would be exacted from a team acquiring the disgruntled, franchise tagged player with one year remaining of team control. Please offer context by referencing one or more similar recent trades.
