The Browns say they aren’t trading Odell Beckham Jr. to the Vikings. Or, for that matter, any other team in the NFL. After talking with multiple Browns sources, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com (on Twitter) reports that OBJ is “firmly” in the team’s plans for 2020.

Rapoport’s sources in Cleveland “literally laughed” when asked about the prospect of dealing the wide receiver. ESPN’s Adam Schefter’s source echoes those sentiments, saying that the Browns have had no discussions this offseason about trading OBJ (Twitter link). Despite the drama and weirdness that comes with Beckham, he stands as one of the most talented receivers in the league. The Browns – who have been denying trade speculation for months – have every reason to try and make things work.
In his first year with the Browns, Beckham had his worst performance in any full season. But, before he relocated to Ohio, Beckham was an absolute monster in New York. OBJ topped 1,300 yards in each of his first three seasons, including a career-high 1,450 yards in 2015. And, after his lost 2017 season, he still managed 77 catches, 1,052 yards, and six touchdowns in just 12 games.
The former first-rounder left the Giants as one of their all-time highest ranked receivers in catches, receiving yards, and touchdown receptions. So far, he’s indicated that he wants to stick around in Cleveland to do the same for the Browns.
Besides, they paid a fortune for Beckham. The Browns shipped 2019 first- and third-round picks to the Giants, plus Jabrill Peppers and Kevin Zeitler, to acquire Olivier Vernon and the star receiver.
Dumb. Should of sent him to the Packers for their 2nd, least favorable 6th, and least favorable 7th.
Draft is deep at receiver. Can always find guys later. Browns need to fix their oline.
ohh hey, why don’t you draft it then?
The Browns could get more than a 2nd (a very late 2nd at that; Packers pick 62nd) and a 6th (which is near-worthless; the Packers’ pick specifically is almost a 7th rounder) for OBJ. He’s still one of the best receivers in the league.
Even with Eli throwing him the ball, he still had one of the best starts to a career for a WR in NFL history. Even with a bad QB last year, he still had 74 catches for 1,000 yards. They could easily get a 1st round pick for Beckham.
And ‘the Browns need to fix their oline’? First, the signed Conklin (possibly the best OL free agent). Second, the draft is deep at OL this year, as deep as the WR position. People in Cleveland should be glad you’re not the GM.
Since the Browns haven’t won a playoff game in 22 years and not a legitimate contender for 35, he would probably be a GM the people of Cleveland would love.
Easily get a 1st round pick. Lmao. No they can’t. Keep dreaming on that one. This isn’t Madden where players are well behaved and don’t cause drama.
He’s a diva, head case, and the drama he brings isn’t worth it to the browns and in at least 2 years he’s going to be sitting out expecting a new contract given the fact salaries for receivers are up and he’s going to be 28 or 29 looking for one last pay day. He currently ranks #11 in wide receiver salaries
Oh wow browns signed Conklin?!?!? Well glad he plays all 5 positions!
Here’s the starting 5
Chris Hubbard RT
Wyatt Teller RG
JC Tretter C
Joe Bitomo LG
Jack Conklin LT
They specifically need upgrades at RT and RG. But glad grabbing Conklin fixed those issues lmao.
For someone taking jabs at another commenter you’re lack of knowledge about obj and the browns oline is laughable. I’d find another sport to watch cause clearly you know very little about players, teams, or football in general.
Conklin is penciled I’m at RT, not left. They still have 10 in draft to take basically any of the top 4 tackles. And of course it’s “specifically RG and LT” the other three are now pro bowlers at one point or another. For a guy who wants to be so condescending you aren’t too bright either huh?
Finding a LT is harder than finding a RT.
I pencilled Conklin in at LT because I believe he will play there at some point due to the serious black hole that was left by Joe Thomas. By the time browns draft the best options at tackle could be gone meaning a tackle taken later will be put at RT and Conklin at LT. I also don’t see the browns trusting Mayfield’s blindside to a rookie.
He could line up at RT but given the facr hes most likely going to be their best pass blocking tackle I see him being the LT for 2020 at some point, especially since there’s a strong chance they miss out on top LT targets.
Either way the browns have a hole at tackle and rg wherever Conklin lines up. They 2 upgrades for the line however you slice it.
But, you know, thinking things through and considering situations and what not takes a lot of thinking….which clearly isn’t your strong suit.
They need 2 upgrades*
Yes, they could *easily* get a 1st rounder for OBJ. He was literally traded for a 1st round pick *and* Jabrill Peppers (also a 1st round pick) only one year ago.
Everything you’re writing about him being a diva and a head case is all ESPN-level drama. It doesn’t change the fact that he is one of the best in the league. He’s better than Diggs (who checks your boxes of ‘diva’ and ‘head case’) who just netted a first rounder and more.
Ironic that you tell me I should ‘think things through’ when you clearly have no idea what A) a top-flight WR is worth and B) what OBJ is *provably* worth (again, just one year ago he netted the Giants what is essentially TWO first round picks).
I mean, you think he’s only worth the 62nd pick and the 209th. Get a clue.
They will take Andrew Thomas or Jedrick Wills at 10.
As for OBJ, no one wants him.. Dorsey got ripped off.
Ooo wow browns can sign hmm who ever still be second or third behind Lamar and the RAVENS
you all missed out needed to draft a reliable qb first. you can Draft all the OL you want but you aren’t winning until you get a qb that is more interested in winning than himself
“Are stuck with”
they are either hiding the fact they are looking at trade offers. or it just some bored people making up fake stories to past the time.
Probably the later. If Mayfield has another dismal season like last years, would it really matter who the Browns have at WR?
I don’t think the browns gave up a fortune for Beckham. Many people this time last year were angry w Gettleman for not shopping him. Stephon Diggs, a lesser WR, got a first rounder in return. The bad part of the deal was the Zeitler/Vernon swap. Browns RG position went from really good in 2018 (w Zeitler) to really bad without him. And Vernon just isn’t an impact player at this stage in his career.
Wyatt Teller wasn’t too bad. A lot of his problems were playing next to Hubbard…
I think Zeitler was light years ahead of Teller… it’s a position, when played well, is under appreciated. But when not played as well, is glaringly obvious
Nobody wants the PITA.
The Browns are STUCK with him.
If nobody wanted him, these rumors wouldn’t be coming out.
Literally every team in football would want him on their team. Even the Giants.
