The Rams are in discussions about a possible trade involving Todd Gurley, PFT’s Mike Florio (via Twitter) hears. It’s not immediately clear which teams are in on the talks, but there are plenty of possible fits for the supremely talented running back.
Of course, there are some complications involved in any Gurley trade. First, there’s his lingering knee injury, which has limited his effectiveness. There’s also the matter of his contract – Gurley is signed through 2023 thanks to his four-year, $57.5MM extension.
Gurley, 25, was the NFL’s offensive player of the year in 2017 and notched 40 touchdowns between ’17 and ’18. Last year, the two-time All-Pro averaged just 3.8 yards per carry and just 6.7 yards per reception. In total, he gained 1,064 yards last year, the lowest total of his career.
The notion of a Gurley trade was unthinkable just a few years ago. Now, after the Rams went 9-7, all options are on the table.
The Buccaneers – who have landed Tom Brady – could be one possibility for Gurley.

No way, he’s done
Who could afford this guy? So much money, so many years, for an injury prone RB
Much of the contract has been paid already. He’s cheap from here out but the Rams will be stuck with significant dead money if they trade him.
He has so little value that you’d have to think the Rams would either have to send a pick just to take his contract, or they’d just get a swap of late round picks or something.
Still, Bill O’Brien is salivating right now.
I mean, between David Johnson and Gurley, you could get a whole half a season of production. Maybe they can also get Melvin Gordon to round out that (very expensive) running back room.
Bill O’Brien will trade Watson to the rams for Gurley, 2 ham sandwichs and a 7th round pick in 2039 and then will package David Johnson/Todd Gurley/ and the 1st round picks for 2022-2025 to the Bills for Frank Gore(honestly probably thinks he still has a contract there)/ Chris Hogan(who he probably thinks still plays there) and a 7th round pick
Lol
Dumb comment
It’s the truth. BOB is a moron.
Cowboys should join in on the RB exodus. Get good value for Zeke, then can sign Melvin Gordon for less than what they are paying Zeke or just get a complimentary back to pair with Pollard. Any pro RB should do well behind that oline, no reason to pay that much for Zeke.
What flavor of grass were you all smoking this morning? I bet wherever he lands, he puts up 1,000 yards plus this year.
You can get 1,000 yards from a 6th rounder if you give him enough carries. Gurley isn’t a terrible player, but why give up picks and cap room for replaceable production?
Ok here are the issues. First his contract is huge. And second he has a bum knee. Who is dumb enough to take him?
Sounds like the kind of acquisition the Jets would make…lol.
Keep in mind the article is quoting Florio, guys a tool and just spouts crap to make himself feel relevant so if something happens he will claim he’s right. He’s said half the league is trying to be traded so far.
Hmm…me thinks Florio was right! The just released Gurley. But nice try dude. Now who’s spouting needlessly???!!!
