As we await the terms on Tom Brady‘s new deal with the Buccaneers, Albert Breer of TheMMQB has tweeted out some of the quarterback’s “conditions.”
Brady was seeking a two-year deal that would be backed by guarantees, and while he was seeking $60MM, he was open to “creativity.” Of course, Breer also cautions that the negotiations weren’t entirely about money; after all, Brady wanted to “give his new team financial flexibility to add.”
Further, Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com writes that Brady presented these conditions to both the Buccaneers and Chargers, with both organizations agreeing to the financial terms. As a result, the further Hall of Famer was able to basically choose between the two franchises.
Florio provides reasons why Brady ultimately opted for Tampa Bay over Los Angeles, noting the difference in income taxes between California (13.3-percent) and Florida (zero). Staying on the east coast also allowed Brady to remain relatively close to his 12-year-old son who lives in New York, and Florio is of the opinion that the Buccaneers are in a better position to compete than the Chargers.
Rad!
Great movie.
Young Laurie Laughlin was a smoke show.
Old Laurie Laughlin is a sh*! show …
I’d still…
I actually read something this morning that said part of his requests were he wanted AB on the team too. Not sure why.
That was AB saying that
NBC Sports actually. Goggle it.
AB—>NBC—>yo eyeballs
Because AB is phenomenal WR.
*was a phenomenal receiver.
Hes also a phenomenal idiot
Ok I’m just going to say it, although I believe Brady is the best to ever play he and Tampa Bay are making a huge mistake
He will be Peyton Manning 2.0; it will be sad to watch his decline, should had gone out with no real stains on his career
He will not be that brilliant QB, we will witness the average Brady this yr and that is a shame
Pretty sure Tampa Bay would be thrilled with Manning 2.0 they would get a ring out of it!
3 pro bowls, 2 All Pros, an MVP and another Super Bowl. That was Peyton Manning from 2012-2015 w the broncos… he just had a bad 2015 where he completely broke down, but (!), they won a super bowl that year.
I’m of the mindset that Brady is going to tail off some this year, too. He’ll be helped by a much better reciever core, however. I mean if you ignore the interceptions, they made Winston look otherwise alright. If Brady wants to play, and someone wants to sign him, it’s his right, and choice to make. It’s not for anyone else to really say don’t tarnish your legacy.
i am thinking he is going to have an epic year with the weapons like he did on 07 and like Peyton did in DEN that first year.
Did you watch him play last year with no offensive line or receivers to throw to? Im a pats fan and you guys are probably going to get one ring with TB12…seriously, manning had a neck issue and Brady is in phenomenal shape. Hell be fine.
Peyton got one more ring before he fell apart, though.
A few things.
Peyton is also 43. Not older.
Peyton was terrible in his SB year. Got carried by a great defense and run game.
Brady to Tampa reminds me of when Emmit Smith took a gig with the Cardinals
but he was great in the years before the SB win in Den , dont forget he also got to the SB his first year with Fox as the HC
Don’t bet against BRADY. He had NO weapons last year to play with except Edelman. With the weapons in Tampa I am salivating at this. Always love love my Patriots but Lets go Bucs.
Pretty clear they’re wasting their money on someone washed up.
Open to being proven wrong tho
Brady should go into the Hall of Fame as a Buccaneer.
I’ve rooted against the man his whole career.
But I gotta admit… my heart softened a bit, when I read he gave the finger to the California tax code.
Exactly. The tax code in California is so onerous that the state has gone from (on it’s own) the 9th largest economy in the world to the 5th largest economy in the world in the last three years.
$60 million for a press conference or two this year and 16 games next year is pretty good money.
17 games actually
Forgot about that, 17, yes.
