While rumors continue to swirl tying the Buccaneers to quarterback Tom Brady, Tampa Bay is continuing to keep their fallback options open. The team has had communications with Jameis Winston, according to Mike Garafolo.
Winston has had a tumultuous career on and off the field since he was selected with the first overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. While he has had plenty of flashes of excellence, Winston’s inconsistencies have been well documented. In his first season under head coach Bruce Arians, Winston excelled in some respects surpassing 30 passing touchdowns and 5,000 passing yards, but his limitations were also very much on display throwing 30 interceptions.
It still remains to be seen whether Brady is willing to leave New England in search of greener pastures elsewhere. The 49ers were reportedly Brady’s top choice and the Titans were rumored to be another possible suitor, but both appear uninterested in making a change at quarterback, leaving Brady with no suitors (aside from the Patriots) that made the playoffs last season. Obviously, Tampa Bay is pursuing other options, but by still keeping contact with Winston, it appears the Bucs still consider him a reasonable option.
Yeah they are In Touch with Winston but more like come pick up your crap you left i in Your locker. i honestly can’t see how they can continue with Winston, he’s obviously uncoachable amd is going to do what he’s gonna do. He just makes too many mistakes.
Winston is viable as a backup you don’t expect to have to play. This is $6 million/year territory. Winston will want to find a taker for him at starter money of course. Not sure there is one. Backing up Brady wouldn’t be shameful and might give him a chance to improve his game. I’m curious if Winston’s performance will improve after eye surgery.
Let’s be honest this Jameis Winston dislike has nothing to do with how he plays. I think but I hope that the Bucs are not making a decision on ESPN and the media hype. If he had thrown 45TD’s and 1 interception it would have been the same.
All of the pundits are suppose to be experts right. His statistics does not add up to what they are saying. 5000 yards in a season is a record by itself plus 33TD’s. What? That is a record right. Solid to me. Oh yeah 30 interceptions. All of you watched the games right. He threw most of them right under pressure. No offense right. The ball went threw the receivers right. They did’nt catch the ball right. Many of the passes were tipped by the receiver and was intercepted. So he probably would have had less than 20 interceptions if it was not for those mishaps. Right? They were in the lead and should have won several of the games. The defense allowed the other teams to come back. Right? Was it his fault? Sound like coaching to me. Did you watch those razor throws he led the receiver. The ball was their and so precise that the defender couldn’t get to the ball. Did anybody see that? Jameis has thrown for more than what 19000 yards in the last 5 years with a minimal offense, no running game at all. He won rookie of the year. Right? How did he do that. Tell the truth why you don’t like Jameis. It has nothing to do with his game because he has broken several records. Some of the greats never threw for 5000 yds in a season. Oh yeah some threw for 30 interceptions. Do you know that? He has a total of what 88 interceptions in 5 years Avg 17 per year. If not for the 30 last year it would be a less probably a record. Avg 84 passing rate. Couple years he was 90 an above. Stop harassing him and tell the truth about his record and game.
