Ohio State star Chase Young has officially declared for the 2020 NFL Draft. The superstar edge rusher figures to be one of the very first players selected in April.
Young is widely regarded as the top overall talent in this year’s class. If the Bengals select Joe Burrow or another quarterback at No. 1, he’ll be there for the Redskins and new head coach Ron Rivera at No. 2.
Young, listed at 6’5″ and 265 pounds, has been on an absolute tear at Ohio State. This year, he finished out with 16.5 sacks and 21 tackles for a loss in just 12 games. He was suspended for two games by the NCAA after he was found to have taken a loan from a family friend that he later paid back, but that didn’t slow him down much. That incident won’t have any bearing on his draft stock, either.
Talent evaluators have been salivating over Young for years. He arrived on campus in 2017 as a top recruit out of DeMatha Catholic High School and made noise right off the bat. Then, in 2018, he broke out with 10.5 sacks and major stops against some of Ohio State’s biggest rivals.
The Lions, Giants, and Dolphins round out the top five in the draft.
As a lions fan, hoping we can get this kid. Absolute stud
As a Redskins fan, eat your heart out.
LOL!
As a Giants fan, they had this kid locked up and then had to go and beat Miami and Washington in back to back weeks. Enjoy him.
With the Redskins going heavy on defensive minded coaches I don’t see him getting past them
He is going #2 to Washington….although if I was cinci I’d take him at 1.
Why??? QB is so much more important.
Is Burrow really a franchise altering quarterback or a guy who had a couple good years in college.
You’d have to ask a Redskins fan that question….their “the league done messed up” QB had 14 games of success in one of the best programs in all college sports….does the regular Redskins fan think they’ve found their franchise QB in him?……if not, Cincy might think twice about taking a guy that has had 1 really, really good year given the outstanding talent around him and build around a defense first.
I’m a big LSU fan, and high school coach for 33 years. Bengals should make him their #1 pick. Burrow isn’t a good fit for Taylor’s offense, and their lack of weapons on offense besides Mixon will hamstring Burrow. Young is a guy that you can build a defense around. You’ve also got to look at the division they play in: A strong defense in that division will keep them competitive until the offense catches up. Just my opinion.
He’d also have one of the best WRs in the game too. You just forgot about him cause he sat out all year.
A good coach adjusts his offense to fit the QB/talent he has or do high school coaches win despite this fact?
Exactly. Look at the Ravens and Jackson…
It’s a shame he’s going to be ruined by the Redskins
Too bad he disappeared vs Clemson.
Too bad he will have to play for any of the habitual top 5 picking teams.
PRAYING TO GOD ABOVE that Washington decides to draft a playmaker for Haskins and the offense so the Lions can nab this beast at #3! I truly think he is going to be a difference maker right from the word go. Generational talent right there!
Drafting a playmaker for Haskins is a wasted pick when your dead last in time of possession. Washington should trade that #2 pick for a top OL who can give them several years of pro bowl quality play.
None of these teams are 1 player away. So no matter who they draft it will take multiple picks and time for any of these teams to get better
