Kellen Moore will stay on board as the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator and he will be the one calling the plays, head coach Mike McCarthy confirmed. Not everything will remain exactly the same, of course – the head coach explained that Moore will be blending McCarthy’s schemes with the Cowboys’ existing terminology.

“Between us,” McCarthy said of Moore and himself. “We can take this offense forward another step.”
Under Moore, the Cowboys jumped from 22nd in total offense to first from 2018-19. Another step forward would restore the Cowboys as Super Bowl contenders in 2020, provided that the defense holds up. It’ll be interesting to see how the offenses combine. Under Jason Garrett, Moore ran a version of the Air Coryell offense, which is drastically different from McCarthy’s West Coast philosophy.
Moore had other opportunities this offseason, including an opportunity to return to his home state and manage the University of Washington’s offense. The opportunity to make full use of his headset likely played in a role in Moore’s return to Dallas.
Moore: “Hello Cowboy fans…I’ll be the new fall guy replacing Mr. Garrett”.
He had a pretty good rookie year calling plays so I’m glad to see this. No. 1 offense in yardage but obviously didn’t do a good enough job turning that into points
Cowboy fans generally have unrealistically high expectations to begin with so Moore doing incredibly well as a rookie will actually work against him. Any regression and he will be criticized and second guessed now.
“Another step forward would restore the Cowboys as Super Bowl contenders in 2020”? They were 8-8… I’m guessing it’s going to take 2-3 more steps minimum.
Titans are 9-7 and are indeed contenders
Yes they are. They are also a team with an identity. Something Dallas lacks, all the pieces are there (their best offensive players are at O-line/RB) to be a power run team like Tennessee and I think they have a better O-line, but Dallas likes to feature Zeke mostly in the 1st half, then throw the ball 35-40 times a game, not sustain drives and tax their defense. That’s the difference, maybe next year will be different but I’m doubtful.
As a Giants fan this is as good of news as I could get. Another Jerry puppet to keep them at 8-8.
giant fans shouldnt be talking because they have their own problems
Howler, one of Jerry’s puppets is your new OC. The good news for Giants fans is that 8-8 would be a huge improvement.
This is actually smart with the cowboys Moore OC for the cowboys 5 year if he can handle it is a great stepping stone if Mike leaves or retires if not Moore goes somewhere else.
