The Colts aren’t totally committed to Jacoby Brissett as their quarterback for 2020. Regardless of how that shakes out, it doesn’t sound like Andrew Luck will be walking through that door.

“He’s doing fine,” said Andrew’s dad and XFL commissioner Oliver Luck in an interview with Dan Patrick. “My wife and I spent some time with him and his growing family. He just got his first child about six weeks ago. We were with him over Christmas. He’s doing great. I have not noticed any desires to come back and play, but he’s doing very well.”
Colts GM Chris Ballard has gotten a similar impression from the former No. 1 overall pick.
“Andrew’s retired,” Ballard said recently. “Do I talk to Andrew? Yes, I do. Haven’t talked to him in a few weeks, I’m sure he’s been busy being a father. But Andrew’s retired, and I think we all need to accept that. That’s where he’s at. He’s retired.”
With that, the Colts probably won’t be able to talk the former No. 1 overall pick into returning in 2020. On the plus side, they have the No. 13 overall pick in the draft and upwards of $90MM in projected cap space to work with.
Trade the pick, give Brissett another year, use the cap space on Defence and WR. 2021 trade up for Lawrence, done and done.
I don’t think I can stand another year of Brissett.
It’s most likely going to be atleast 1 more. No solutions in fa, if they draft someone they’ll sit him and ride brisset while that contracts still going for his last year on it.
I agree. Give another year to Jacoby. Draft a QB in the mid to late rounds and let him sit and learn the playbook. Build around your defense. At 13th overall there are some good playmakers available in that spot.
I love it. Would love it more if they could get Tom Brady for a couple years.
The Colts are probably the team most responsible for Brady’s legend having provided Tom with 4 playoff wins but it would be just too weird seeing Brady in a Colts uniform. Of course if the Patriots signed Eli Manning as Brady’s replacement…that would go beyond weird.
Sounds easy enough
I could be wrong, but Oliver Luck was on LeBatard when he said this.. unless he happened to echo it on Dan Patrick?
I think they’ll go after Brady and Rivers. If Brees somehow becomes available they could go after him as well. Teddy Bridgewater is another one. They have a solid team in place and just need a few pieces along with a solid QB so I expect to see them go after a solid veteran like Rivers.
Next QB for the Colts will be Andy Dalton – the Red Rifle
Red Daisy
Chad Kelly should be starting QB
