On Thursday afternoon, Raiders GM Mike Mayock updated reporters on the ongoing Antonio Brown saga…sort of.
“Short and sweet, Antonio Brown is not in the building today,” Mayock said (video link). “He won’t be practicing. I don’t have any more information for you right now. When I have some and it becomes appropriate, you guys will all get it but that’s it for today.”
In case you missed it – the Raiders are reportedly planning to suspend the wide receiver after he got into a heated confrontation with Mayock. If Brown is suspended, the Raiders might be able to recoup part, or all, of Brown’s $30MM signing bonus. If that happens, Brown’s Raiders stint will likely end without him having ever played a down in silver and black.
Brown and Mayock did not come to blows, though Brown did have to be held back by Vontaze Burfict (of all people). In the course of the conversation, Brown reportedly punted a football and told Mayock, “Fine me for that.” Right now, it sounds like Mayock will take him up on the offer.
Meanwhile, Brown’s dissatisfaction has, once again, spilled over to social media. In recent hours, Brown unfollowed both the Raiders and quarterback Derek Carr on Instagram (h/t Runnyasa).
apologies to anyone that drafted the clown….
They knew what they were getting into…
i can imagine some drama was expected, but this? this takes the cake id say.
yeah for sure bro… if i knew he would get suspended i wouldnt have drafted him. like darkside said, i expected a bit of drama but not any that would stop him from playing altogether
AB your a piece of work. I hope they take all the $$ back and void your contract. Then the NFL can let you go on your merry way and you can be that special guy you are in the real world away from being paid millions to play a game. To have it made in the shade and be so stupid. Please don’t reproduce.
Hope the Raiders can’t void his contract and are stuck with it. They don’t deserve to get out of it. They knew what they were getting. They knowingly added a problem player, they should have to suffer the consequences. If they thought a team change would stop AB from being AB they are idiots. His talent and personality are a package deal.
This is the risk you take when you choose to ignore a player’s character and personality simply because of his talent. Raiders just happen to be getting burned hard on this risk. They shouldn’t be able to escape it.
Plenty of players with histories have gone to other organizations and turned a new leaf with a fresh start…I’m a Raiders fan so I do have some bias, but it seems like they’ve been very accommodating and given him every chance to succeed and given him his space…with that being said, it’s amazing to me that he would expect to not show up for work (mandatory team activities) and not get fined…I’m sorry to say that it appears that the Raiders’ gamble doesn’t look like it is going to pay off, hopefully they are able to recoup their money of he doesn’t do an about face
Agree 100%
With rocket
This is exactly why I drafted Williams in the mid to late rounds bc I think he will have a breakout year
Don’t let the inmates run the asylum.
I thought they already did around here.
Wondering if AB even wants to play football anymore. He took a job at one of the worst teams in the league. He won’t get 30 million guaranteed from anyone else. 10 million one year deal at best.
I wonder if he just doesn’t want to be in Oakland. Can only imagine the relief Bills fans every where have right now.
All the drama that AB is creating is no different than what he had done to get himself out of Pittsburgh. This is a personal problem not an organizational problem
You got that right!..And, I was an AB advocate thinking the situation, Coach, and Big Ben were the problem! Boy, was I wrong! So glad that spoiled brat is anywhere BUT Buffalo!
Burfict. You can’t make this stuff up lmao
I was thinking the same thing! .. priceless
So, the Steelers could end up with 2 draft picks for a guy who never plays a regular season game for the Raiders…so, who trade robbed who again?
That was last year when they got a #3 for Dopey
The XFL might let him wear his precious helmet? ; )~
I’m so over this clown. I’ve never wanted to see someone just go away from a sport I love so much so badly. He is so talented too, to want someone as talented and as fun to watch to just go away already should speak volumes to his bad I can’t stand his terrible attitude and his non stop shenanigans. It’s like he was spoiled by the Steelers putting up with his crap because of his talent and now he has a team that actually won’t put up with that crap and he doesn’t know how to act. He’s like a big kid throwing fits if he doesn’t get his way. Someone needs to put his ass on time out and take away his toys or in this case his money lol
He punted a ball because he got mad?!! That was his way of rebelling? My 8-year old son does that and I tell him it’s time to act like he’s 8.
but,I thought he had bad feet?!! like didn’t he have pics of skin coming off?!! well, guess that healed fast
The Raiders will be better off, however they have no home run hitter now…wideout or running game
I hope the Raiders have a year worse than the Orioles. Thank god its almost over.
LOL you should not wish that on anyone. It has been a turrible year for the O’s
I know. Ive only missed about 7-8 games this season. But they have played better in august.
Good ole Antonio Clown!
Hello New England
Maybe Oak can get a 7th from Belicheat, lol.
The (of all people) after burfict….kudos
Dude isn’t even going to see his money. Idk, wasnt the whole thing about the money? They have it to you. Maybe he gets his head checked once he sees the money exit his bank account.
I mean….anyone wonder if head trauma is the cause? This guy has shown some extremely erratic behavior. I know that the stigma is this is how high profile WRs are but, this takes a lot to get what you want and then make a mess out of it over trivial things.
Could be a knucklehead but the more erratic the behavior, the more you wonder why he it’s escalated this far.
He unfollowed someone on Instagram? What is this, high school? Of course, if you look at the level of maturity involved that actually fits.
Yeah he is by far the most petty athlete in the league right now…his beef with JuJu with him posting the fine letter on Instagram is just too much…it seriously reads like a 21 year old female going through a rough time in her personal life with a recent break up with her boyfriend and trying to figure herself out…these guys paid you man, what is the issue?
I’m sitting by the phone waiting for AB’s agent to call and ask if he can borrow my avatar.
Let the fool go already!
Soon he will be asking
“want fries with that?”
This is just like a toddler that gets no punishment or very erratic punishment at home. He sees his parents then acts horrible because he knows he can get away with it. His dad (Gruden) backs his actions up saying it is not his fault he has done nothing wrong. This enables the little turd to act worse. Daddy is telling him behind moms (Mayock) back it is OK you did nothing wrong. Mom tries to punish him but is cut off at the ankles by dad’s actions. The kid has always been a little sh*t but his actions were always hidden by his parents (Pittsburgh). Now he is out in public and his actions are seen by more people.
They better get control of the situation before it gets out of hand. Uhhh to late, Chucky allowed this diva to become uncontrollable, and if they don’t suspend him beginning the first game, what a year it will be.
