Richie Incognito will have to wait a little while before making his Raiders debut. On Friday, the league suspended the offensive lineman for two games, per an NFL press release.
The suspension was long anticipated. This ban, in particular, stems from Incognito’s funeral home incident of last year. Incognito pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct stemming from the August 2018 arrest.
According to the arrest report, funeral home employees say the former Pro Bowler wanted his father’s head cut off for research purposes and walked through the funeral home punching caskets and throwing objects. Incognito also made a gun gesture towards an employee and told him that he had guns in his truck. When police searched Incognito’s car, they found a tan Glock 17 9mm handgun, a black Glock 35 .40-caliber handgun, three rifles and four magazines.
Incognito’s off-the-field behavior has been troubling, to say the least, but he could prove to be a strong addition to the team’s offensive line if he stays on the straight and narrow. If he sticks on the roster, he’ll be eligible to debut in Week 3 when the Raiders face the Vikings.
Richie can threaten people and only get 2 games suspended. But a guy w/ a DUI goes from two to four games because of a person’s word? Again, if the NFLPA really cared about its base, then they would write up the suspension policies.
Right!? These punishments all over the place. There needs to be a simple go-to sheet for punishments.
Agreed. Shouldn’t be based on how Emperor Goodell is feeling that day.
Incognito is not a good person & a prime example is what he did in Miami where he almost drove a rookie teammate to suicide & virtually ruined the young man’s career & now last year’s incident where he threatens others & only faced a minor charge & then the league only slaps him on the back of his hand
I agree RI is kind of a scumbag, but the NFL will suspend you for literally anything at this point.
So the guy broke some stuff and caused a scene at his dads funeral! Then he went “bang bang” with his finger gun!
What’s that you say, Baker Mayfield has a dog that’s mean to squirrels! 2 games for that.
Alvin Kamara drove in the carpool lane ALONE!!!! 4 games!!!!
The NFL and RG are just way overboard with off-field stuff.
if anyone should be suspended, its OAK’s GM for signing this fool. suspension shouldnt be an issue if no one signs him, as should be the case.
For having “troll” in your name, you’re not a very good one at it.
2 games. absurd. im not usually for banning people outright, but the fact that he’s still around is a terrible miscarriage of justice.
Yeah, this guy is a walking advertisement for many of the negative aspects of the NFL
He should be in jail, but is instead able to whatever he wants with almost no consequences. And what he seems to enjoy doing most is terrorizing everyone around him…sounds oddly familiar…hmm.
Although this seems to be the century of no consequences for the rich and powerful, so we shouldn’t be too surprised
Good take!
How does a certified crazy person get guns?
I guess we can eliminate Texas as your home state.
I’m deeply touched by the love Richie had for his father. I’m fairly certain my kids would not think my head valuable enough to be preserved for research purposes…lol.
I try not to genuinely dislike people I don’t actually know, but it happens sometimes, and I genuinely dislike Richie Incognito.
He want’s you to know that he doesn’t hold a grudge and will be happy to attend your funeral when the time comes.
That was good of you to pass that on, thanks. 😉
Still wondering how he is still in the league?
Threaten employees and punch dead people and you get two games, spark up a blunt and you’ll be thrown out of the league
Your signing Richie to be a model citizen or person of the year your signing him to protect Carr. If he keeps Carr upright what does it matter?
Not much because Carr sucks
Even if Richie can keep Carr upright would you be anxious to get on a plane with him? With his damaged brain he could decide to knock out the pilot and try to fly the plane himself…then where would you be?
Class act as always.
I keep waiting for the “Ritchie Incognito Retires from NFL” story. I don’t know the guy personally, but there hasn’t been one positive story about him since his career began. He doesn’t seem like a very reasonable, sensible or decent person
As a Raider fan, I’m not liking this addition. And I like adding some toughness to our team, but this doesn’t feel like the right way to do it.
