The Broncos and Chris Harris Jr. are “extremely close” to a new one-year deal, according to Mike Klis of 9News (on Twitter). With the final week of OTAs starting on Wednesday, both sides hoping to reach agreement today.

Harris is set to earn $8.9MM this year in salary and bonuses. Initially, Harris was pushing for more than $15MM per year on a multi-year extension, but he has since backed down from that asking price. The Broncos are unwilling to tack additional years on to his pact, but they are apparently willing to give him a pay bump for 2019.
Last year, the Broncos mollified Harris’ extension request with a similar measure. A $3MM incentive package got the job done in 2018, but one has to imagine that GM John Elway will have to give more this time around.
Harris appeared in 12 games and posted three interceptions a year ago before suffering a fractured fibula in early December. Pro Football Focus graded Harris, who spent 58% of his time in the slot, as the third-best cornerback in the NFL.
Broncos should sign him to $12/AAV for two years. I think that would be under his market value, and then trade him to a contender for draft picks. Harris is a solid player and I’m sure many teams would be interested in acquiring him… doesn’t make sense to increase his salary for one year. Broncos aren’t going to be playoffs. One, they plan to start Flacco and two, they are in a division w KC and LAC. That should be 4 losses right there. Even though I think the beat LAC on the road last year. I wouldn’t count on that happening again.
Both KC and LAC both lost key players on offense and defense. KC offense wasn’t the same after Hunt. Now both teams will still be good, but to think that both teams won’t take a step back, is naïve. Also to think the Broncos won’t be improved, is delusional.
I would wager a substantial amount of money against the Broncos this year. Chargers have no holes on their roster and the chiefs offense will be unstoppable. You’re out of here buddy
The Chargers lost their starting running back, second best receiver, a starting corner and a starting safety. Yes the Chiefs offense will be good. But how many games, will Hill be suspended for? And you still have to be able to stop the other team from scoring. Which the Chiefs did, basically nothing to improve their defense. Not to mention losing a pro bowl center and right tackle. Where the Broncos went out and filled holes on their O-line. Filled holes in the secondary. Drafted a TE who can actually catch the ball. Now I’m not saying that the Broncos are going to make the playoffs, because don’t know how Flaco will fit in a new scheme.
