Patriots WR Josh Gordon has signed his original round RFA tender, as ESPN’s Field Yates tweets. Although Gordon is uncertain to play in 2019, if he does suit up, it will be for the Pats.
The last we heard from Gordon, he was considering applying for reinstatement by the league this spring. Gordon was traded from the Browns to the Patriots last season, and he had some initial success before suddenly stepping away from the team. Shortly thereafter, it was announced that the league was suspending him indefinitely for violating the terms of his previous reinstatement.
Another report also said Gordon could be back by training camp, although that’s obviously far from a guarantee. Gordon has always been ultra-talented, but he hasn’t been able to stay on the field. In 11 games with the Patriots last year, he caught 40 passes fro 720 yards and three touchdowns.
The original round tender will pay Gordon $2.025MM in 2019, assuming he’s able to play.
Woohoo, time to celebrate!
I too believe in 2,482nd chances!!
That’s not fair. It’s only his 1,878th chance.
itd be a massive joke if this guy plays at all in the league again, much less next year.
Weed is so bad guys but beat your girlfriend
Have a drink, not a smoke. Not a hard rule to follow. I’m sure there are other ways for Josh Gordon to coup. Maybe getting the right medicine, counseling, nutritionist, and trainer will do it. Perhaps a full-time watcher.
pain killers or pot is a no brainer – the league needs to let this guy play
Let the guy smoke weed !! It’s now legal for recreational and medical use in a lot of states and it’s not a PED.
With the NFL now famous for domestic violence and other violent crimes, why are they so concerned about a pot head !??
They opened up recreational stores in Mass weeks after he was traded to NE.
Ease up on the rules because somebody can’t follow them? Really? That’s exactly what’s wrong with society these days.
Ease up on the rules because they’re archaic rules. Being afraid of progress, that’s exactly what’s wrong with society these days.
Abolish weed testing. Weed is good.
I wonder if he’s getting pressure to play football. I hate to assume but from the outside looking in it seems like word is he’s doing great and on a good path then he comes back to the NFL and the problems reoccur. Maybe he should just stay away. Cry wasted talent all you want but this guy isn’t ok he’s said as much. I’d rather see him walk away then constantly suspended and read a few years later he put a bullet in his mouth. Mental illness is the cause of this not pot. You think someone who was right and loved football couldn’t sustain from smoking to live his dream and make millions? How many other are doing it? Not about the rule it’s obviously outdated it’s about the fact that he chooses it over everything else. I think Josh Gordon needs to do Josh Gordon and tune out the noise
The hell with football go get right and stay right. All you guys saying it’s a stupid rule are absolutely right but you’re missing the point on Gordon. Weed isn’t addictive one of many reason I’m all for it being legal. His problems run so much deeper. He literally chooses to smoke a non addictive substance knowing it’ll cost him his job in the NFL that’s just a fact he knows the rules regardless of how outdated they are. His problems have little to nothing to do with pot he’s got a mental illness
