The Jets are looking to make a splash on Friday night. Gang Green is seeking to make a move all the way from the third round into the early second, sources tell Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo of NFL.com (on Twitter). However, in order to pull that off, the Jets would need to give up significant capital in future draft picks.
It’s not clear who the Jets are targeting, but Garafolo (Twitter link) estimates that they’re going for a pass rusher. The Jets have spoken to the Seahawks, who own the No. 37 overall pick, Manish Mehta of the Daily News (on Twitter) hears, which would represent a significant jump from No. 68 overall in the third round.
Of course, the Jets had a big opportunity to improve their pass rush with the No. 3 overall pick last night, but they opted for Alabama defensive tackle Quinnen Williams over Kentucky’s Josh Allen, Michigan’s Rashan Gary, and other impact edge players.
I’d need their 3rd, another pick, and their 1st next year to move that far down
Even then not a slam dunk
So a 3rd this year, presumably a 4-7 this year and next years 1st? Only GM that would do that would be the Giants GM and he’s probably use the 2nd to draft a punter
He’d*
It’s hard to move up that far and have it make sense for the Seahawks. Why would they trade 37 for 68 just to gain two late rounders?
In this draft it’s probably not worth it unless there’s one specific player they really want. This class is too deep to pay that much to move up.
I was going to say 68,105,217 and a first rounder next year for the 37.
How does any of that make sense. Why would they trade a better pick next year for a 1000% guaranteed worse pick this year lol? Maybe the 68 (with maybe the 105 OR 217) and a second rounder next year. No more than that.
Jets aren’t giving away ANY 1# picks.
It’s gonna be interesting to see both the Jets and Giants trying to trade up 2night for an Edge pick.
O great. My hawks gonna trade again for more useless picks. We made a gigantic mistake not getting kneal. Homeboy will be a hof. Mark my words fsm
None of that makes a lot of sense. I could see the Jets trying to jump in front of the Saints in the late second to get the center, Elgton Jenkins, if he’s still on the board, since the Saints are looking to replace Max Unger.
Well, that idea is done since the Pack took him. Erik McCoy’s still there, though.
Well, that’s done, too, since the Saints traded up for him.
Their 3rd, next years 3rd, and a 5th is fair value. You guys are either trolling or uneducated in draft pick value.
