On Monday,The Spring League announced the signing of former Baylor defensive lineman Shawn Oakman. Oakman, who went undrafted in 2016 due to sexual assault charges, will suit up for the Austin Generals in his bid to make the NFL ranks.
Oakman’s physical tools once positioned him as one of the top prospects in the country. In 2014, Oakman registered 25.5 tackles for a loss, 11 sacks, and four forced fumbles. His 2015 campaign wasn’t as impressive (4.5 sacks, 14.5 TFL, two forced fumbles), but he was truly undone by a troubling incident that took place just weeks before the draft.
Recently, however, Oakman was acquitted of the charges against him. With The Spring League, he’ll have an opportunity to prove he’s on the right track and demonstrate that he still possesses explosive size, speed, and power.
Police: Oakman your gonna go away for a long time

PS: acquittal is not actually proof he did not commit said crime, just a poor prosecution/case. I’m sure Baylor is proud of the acquittal, one of an alleged 52 rapes committed by the football team in just a 4 year span. That is not an exaggeration- 52 in 4 years!
Acquittal means he was found not guilty. Which means one thing: He’s not guilty. Proving somebody was raped is already incredibly fickle. Stop acting like a legal professional when the guy was acquitted by a jury, not a judge.
Again, not proof he didn’t rape her after he physically carried home a girl that was falling down drunk. That they had a previous relationship and she had his dna in her mouth were reasons for the acquittal, despite neither having much to do with somebody physically taking it from a passed out drunken female.
He was actually innocent, she lied about them having a previous relationship. She was bent because he was moving on from her and she wasn’t going to be with an NFL player.
She also deleted text messages begging him to come over that night
Baylor definitely had a major issue with policing its programs across the board. With that being said I think we are always to quick to condemn someone based off accusations. I know that opinion will draw a lot of criticism but it’s how I perceive it. He was acquitted and deserves a chance to pursue his career. With that being said he should be on a short leash and shouldn’t even be caught jaywalking if he wants to show that he’s turned a corner in his life and wants to become a productive member of society.
With that being said I realize I wrote with that being said twice. Please take it easy on me lol.
You just did it again. Lol
I could care less ignore the critics. It is petty to come on a site and criticising you for grammar and punctuation. This is just for fun not life and death.
This sounds like a JS/PC signing. They took a chance on Clark and he had been great. Same with Irvin. There are the people to keep him inline and show him the way. Will be interesting to see were he lands.
