Cardinals quarterback Josh Rosen could be displaced by the selection of Kyler Murray on Thursday, but its anyone’s guess as to what will actually happen. There’s no consistent word on what the Cardinals will do at No. 1 overall, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com (on Twitter) hears and the club has not made any recent trade calls centered around Rosen.
Every week, there seems to be a new contender (or, another team dropping out) of the Rosen market. Early on, the Giants seemed to have their sights set on Rosen as an heir to Eli Manning. Then, the Redskins were heavily connected to the UCLA product, but they’ve since cooled on him. The latest word is that the Dolphins have done more homework on Rosen than any other team in the league, which may make them the leader in the clubhouse.
Still, it’s not clear whether any club will offer more than a third-round pick for last year’s No. 10 overall selection. It’s also not clear whether Arizona is willing to take pennies on the dollar for the young QB.
its not gonna happen, and id be willing to put money on it.
I’d almost guarantee they go Bosa.
Kyler would be a wasted pick, let alone giving up on #11 pick last year.
Let alone they’d have to face Bosa 2x per year, long after little guy switches back to baseball.
“long after little guy switches back to baseball”
Ok though guy
Would be interesting to see them take Kyler AND keep Rosen and have monster QB competition this summer.
I see Murray talks as smoke screen. Cards are hoping a QB needy team or someone desperate to move up for Bosa or others is willing to offer them a boat load to move up.
Say Gruden wants Murray and offers their number 4 and other first round pick. Then Arizona keeps Rosen, plus gets one of the available edge rusher and another pick.
Why, though? Whatever quarterback loses would have their trade value depreciate. If Rosen lost, good luck getting even a 3rd rounder for him. If Murray lost, then what? They wasted the number one overall pick on someone who will ride the bench? They’d be better off trading the #1 pick for a bevy of picks or trade Rosen now for a second rounder.
imo, if they’re planning on drafting Murray, they’d be fools to not trade Rosen right now. If they’re not planning on drafting Murray, they’d be fools to keep the number one pick. They have so many holes to fill.
At this point , the rumors have probably impacted Rosen’s confidence to where Arizona almost has to take Murray
I would argue the other side of that thought sayin it should motivate him?
Especially if they don’t choose Murray.
He’s never been lacking in confidence. Plus I’d imagine that if their plan is to pass on Murray, they’ve probably secretly told Rosen that anyway.
That makes zero logical sense.
If they pass on Kyler, then Rosen will have all the confidence in the world.
He won’t be traded for anything higher than a 2nd.
Thus why it makes more sense to take Bosa and keep Rosie
Trade value will only do drop if Arizona selects Murray.
Nonsense. What if all the QB’s get picked early and a team who really needs one is sitting there desperate for a QB? What if a QB on a good team, say the Patriots, gets hurt in the preseason…
Because at that point the Cardinals would have two first round QBs from successive drafts and every team in the league would know they’d be desperate to unload him. No one is desperate/dumb enough to overpay for a QB from a team desperate to sell. It makes no sense.
If they don’t take Murray, then why would they trade Rosen????
Lmao
Please Giants offer your number 16 pick for him.
Yes. As a Pats fan I fully support a massive over pay.
What would it matter to New England, if the Giants overpay?? I mean seriously, if a team needs a Qb, then they’re no threat to New England . I hope the Patriots think he could be the successor to Brady, and they overpay for him, and Brady gets hurt, and Rosen plays like trash, and New England sucks and never wins anything again. You clueless simpleton
they have # 17
It’s been Bosa from day one. This has been to try and get trades swirling. Look past all the smoke. Kliff is lucky he has a qb already there. Might not be “his guy” but he can mold him into his play style. Now he can draft best available or biggest need. Bosa makes too much sense. Let Murray go to Oakland so he can spurn the and play for the A’s.
Exactly Bosa is #1 prospect, Kyler has a million question marks.
Zona drafted qb last year and needs pass rusher.
If those facts don’t convince you, then you’ve been lost to the talking heads.
Brad, can’t hold a non-athletic QB into something he’s not just like you can’t turn chickens into chicken salad. Rosen flat out sucks
Brad, can’t hold a non-athletic QB into something he’s not just like you can’t turn chickenshit into chicken salad. Rosen flat out sucks
The cardinals deserve what they get. Rosen is a bust. He doesn’t even like football. If Kingsbury wants to waste his one shot betting on Rosen so be it
Steve “ I will have one more drink” Keim is about as qualified to pick number 1 as a kindergartner.
Soo the update is that nothing has really changed?
If you’re a crummy team like the Cardinals, why not trade back to get more high quality players? Seriously. Bosa or Murray won’t save the team.
