The Steelers and Bills are closing in on a trade that would send Antonio Brown to Buffalo, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com (on Twitter) hears. However, we have conflicting word on the potential deal. No deal is imminent between the two teams, one source tells Vic Carucci of The Buffalo News (Twitter link) and another league source termed it “unlikely.”
The Steelers have discussed a Brown deal with the Redskins, Raiders, Titans, and other clubs, but the Bills were not previously thought to be on the radar. Apparently, things heated up this week and the Bills showed intent interest in getting a deal done.
As of this writing, we don’t know whether a deal is going down for sure. We also don’t know if a deal will be done by Friday, as previously reported. A Brown-to-Buffalo trade could involve the swapping of first-round picks (the Bills own pick No. 9, Steelers have No. 20), but it’s all speculative at this point.
Brown, 31 in July, earned his sixth consecutive Pro Bowl selection in 2018, finishing with 104 catches, 1,297 yards, and a league-leading 15 touchdown receptions. In Buffalo, he’d automatically bolster a WR group that is presently led by Zay Jones and Robert Foster.
If this happens, is he even draftable in fantasy anymore?
No
A 4th rounder my guess hes still good for a regular WR1
I can see him a solid number 2 since he will be targeted a bunch
Some people take this league stuff so seriously heh
Yes, he just probably won’t be as high as he was
I mean they gotta try and have faith In Allen right
Packers are in on him I read. Not sure how I feel about that, but imagine that duo of Adams and AB the targets for Rodgers..I wouldn’t be mad
Greatest news ever for the Giants if this actually happens. Odell’s stock has just risen.
The Giants ARE NOTA TRADING Odell.
Probably not but they should. They have an old ass QB should have been released 2 years ago, they let their good Defensive players get traded or now a stud S who is only 25 go without any compensation and they HOPE he gets signed to get a compensatory pick 3rd rounder in 2020. So why make Odell suffer? Trade him!
This is so funny …serves him right for being the jackazz he is.
Couldn’t think of a better place for him. He so deserves this..
Buffalo trading for Brown makes little sense. The Bills top priority has to be rebuilding the offensive line followed by a bell cow rusher than can replace Shady.
This would be amazing.
Yep. Steelers and Bills switching spots would be good enough and yield hopefully a top defender.
Ian Fake news report
Welcome to your final resting place AB. Throw a tantrum when Allen over throws you 4 times in a game. He will be lucky to put up 800 yards. Not what you had in mind is it ? Ben looking a little better now? Absolutely love this …
How’s that pre-mature gratification feeling? Man…how people believe everything they read THESE days w/o confirming it is absolutely astonishing.
It’s a rumor site. I could only be hopeful.
There’s Nothing wrong with hope…
AB nixed the trade.
Mr. Big Chest is a fine example of what happens when a guy who started out with a 64 IQ gets CTE.
Bills’ GM Brandon Beane: “We inquired about Antonio Brown on Tuesday, and kept talks open with the Steelers. We had positive discussions, but ultimately it didn’t make sense for either side. As great a player as Antonio Brown is, we have moved on and our focus is on free agency.”
If he’s traded there, he won’t play!
The funny part of trading him to a bottom tier team would be seeing his stock drop and make less money!
AB has done this to himself
Why would he make less money?
Also.. Is it odd that the two best players at their positions in all the NFL are running themselves out of Pitt?
Tyreke Hill and Todd Gurley?
Gurley can’t run anymore. Knees like my grandpa
I don’t understand why the Steelers are letting AB nix trades and decide where he gets to go. He goes to whomever will give us the most compensation. That’s how trades work. He has shown no reason for the Steelers to give him any sort of control. First he destroys his own value by continuing to run his mouth, then you let him tell you where he can and can’t go? The Steelers are a joke right now, and that’s coming from a lifelong Steelers fan.
He still has control. If the team trading for him knows he won’t play there he’s greatly reducing the potential suitors.
If you’re the Bills, is it in your best interests to trade for a player that will retire if you get him? The only possible chance Bills would do this is if they had a wink-nod agreement from the patriots or ravens. Give up a 3 for brown, and flip him to pats for a 2? But it won’t happen.
Last report I read was that the Bills are out after talks fell through
Can’t wait to see him crying about Josh Allen not throwing him the ball enough .
I don’t understand why Pittsburgh made this mess any more difficult than it needed to be. From the beginning of this, to help make sure a legitimate trade could go thru, I would have just told AB and his agent – 1) we want you/AB 2) if we can’t mend fences then we will trade you 3) Are you the best WR in the NFL? Are you still in your prime? Are you as the best WR in the NFL worth 2 1st rd draft choices? I am sure the answers would have been yes on all the above. Fine, then you can go out and find us a trade that nets that, or atleast a 1st this year and a 2nd next year, to the place of your choosing. If you will not delay your bonus of $2.5m past March 17, then we will give you until the end of February to facilitate a trade on the above parameters, if you can’t, then you have 3 choices 1) conform to a trade that we facilitate 2) mend fences 3) officially retire. Lastly, and this goes without saying, let’s not make a media circus of this event since we conformed to what you wanted in the end. This way, AB and his agent can see what his true worth in compensation is on their own around the league. He has a lot less reason to act like a nutbag the last few months, and if he gets a trade that you are agreeable to, you know he will report. I know this is not normal, but neither is this situation, and it couldn’t have worked out any worse than what has transpired. And lastly, I don’t, in the end, care who is more at fault between the Steeler organization, Ben, or AB. From a business standpoint, it is meaningless.
