The trades of Odell Beckham Jr. and Olivier Vernon were originally reported as separate moves, but the Browns and Giants have have each announced the acquisitions as one large transaction. Additionally, as Art Stapleton of NorthJersey.com first reported, the fourth- and fifth-round picks that were originally part of the Vernon/Kevin Zeitler trade are no longer involved in the swap.
Here are the full terms of the stunning trade:
Browns acquire:
- WR Odell Beckham Jr.
- DE Olivier Vernon
Giants acquire:
- G Kevin Zeitler
- S Jabrill Peppers
- 2019 first-round pick (No. 17)
- 2019 third-round pick (No. 95)
Let’s goo
Worst pickup line ever.
Well, I guess that all depends on what they’re into.
What does any of this have to do with the topic? Maybe someone should have something worthwhile to say so I’ll start. From what everyone is saying Beckham wanted more money because Brown got more money he was only one year into a five-year deal get pays him a total of 90 million I think the Giants made the right move as much is I love OBJ. The guy did cause a lot of drama in the locker room so this is a move I think that is best for everyone.
Browns are gonna be awesome to watch. I believe I’ll order the streaming package for them.
It’s…the…Browns
What a damn steal
Honestly I like it for both teams
I can’t believe some giants fans are ok with this deal, specifically with Beckham. No one in the media thinks the giants handled OBJ situation properly. Between the extension and trade. First glance, I thought the browns got the better of the deal and the more I think about it, I would do this deal 100x over if I’m the browns… I would happily give up the #17 pick, Jabrill Peppers and the Patriots 3rd rounder for a top 5 WR in his prime on a decent contract. Safeties like Jabril Peppers can be found in the draft routinely, players like Beckham are generational.
It reminds me of the Blake Griffin trade
Being “generational” is not a thing. OBJ is a cancer. That’s why the Giants want to move on. They won 2 Super Bowls withOUT a supposed generation talent. If he was that amazing, he wouldn’t be top 5; he’d be top 1 and the next guy wouldn’t even be close.
The Browns will end up cutting OBJ in a year. He’s the football version of Carmelo Anthony!
OBJ & Saqoun was a formidable duo. Cleveland’s winning the North. Go Browns. Offense & D loaded with talent now. Wow. Bears vs. Browns SuperBowl next year aye
Good WRs move around the league for pretty cheap. This is not that. Giant fans should not be so mad; Beckham was going to be a problem. WRs often are; that’s often why they are so loosely held by their teams.
The trade did pull some money from ownership so that is good. I assume Dorsey is hoping to use capspace to gather talent instead of drafting. That would be new thing, and another feather in his cap. As for more wins longterm … ?
