In the first quarter of the NFC Championship game, Saints tight end Josh Hill sustained a concussion. He is out for the remainder of the game, Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times tweets.
It’s a big loss for the Saints, who are already without starting tight end Ben Watson, who is dealing with appendicitis. Should they pull out the win, the team could be down its top two tight ends for the Super Bowl in two weeks, depending on how both recover from their ailments.
Hill played a large role early in the game for the Saints, pulling in one reception for 24 yards on the Saints’ first-half touchdown drive. He also sustained the injury on the play.
New Orleans didn’t skip a beat following the injury, as recently signed tight end Garrett Griffin capped the drive with his first career reception — a 5-yard touchdown. Without Hill and Watson, rookie tight end Dan Arnold will also see more action.
The sixth-year tight end tied his career high with 16 receptions during the regular season. The reception on the injury marked his fourth grab of this postseason.
What happens is a trainer asks a player how many fingers hes holding up and if the player responds by saying it’s Thursday, then they probably don’t play for a while.
Well, it was an obvious helmet to helmet. Of course, the officials missed that call, too. Just a precursor of what was to come. Those clowns shouldn’t be allowed to officiate flag football games!!!
Agreed…Saints got robbed
I’ve coached for 30 years, and I’m not real sure what PI is if it wasn’t that call later in the game. The sad part is, the game ends there, the Saints should be in the Super Bowl. Instead, the officials get a fine, and the Rams back into the Super Bowl. And people wonder if “the fix” is in?
Exactly
Yup
The Chiefs game was just as bad!
What if the Saints D just makes a stop and they go up 3? What if HOF QB drives his team down for a winning TD (like Brady did) instead of throwing an Int?
That play was so fast I understand why it was missed. Slo mo looked really bad. That should have been called. Both teams were throwing cheap elbows all game.
And that PI call was really bad. Really bad. Definitely should have been a flag, but so was that non face mask right before on Goff that would have gave Rams 1st and goal instead kicking FG. If that PI didn’t happen then that faskemask call would be the play being talked about.
NFL needs some changes, even if it’s like college when they can review targeting and head shots.
NFL couldn’t afford to have 2 smaller markets in the Super Bowl. I believe it’s BS that “playoff games are officiated differently”
You got it! They want to maximize those profits!
