With Rudock out of the picture, Matt Cassel will serve as the backup to quarterback Matthew Stafford. Freeny conceivably could have made the roster based on his familiarity with head coach Matt Patricia, but the Lions went in another direction.
Still think keeping cassell not smart. 36 years old and rudock had interest last year. Why take a chance and have to get another backup in a year or two
I agree but maybe it’s more for Stafford to have a real veteran QB on the sidelines to keep getting him better? That’s the only reason I can think of because Cassel didn’t outplay Rudock.
