The Browns finally got their date with Dez Bryant. However, they’re not necessarily certain about signing him. There is internal discussion about whether Bryant is the right fit for the Browns at this time, sources tell Tony Grossi of ESPN Cleveland.
When Josh Gordon experienced a setback in his recovery earlier this summer, the Browns were concerned about their group at wide receiver. However, they’re not feeling quite as desperate after seeing their group of young receivers improve in recent weeks. Beyond Antonio Callaway and Rashard Higgins, they’ve also gotten positive results out of C.J. Board, UDFA Da’Mari Scott, and sixth-round pick Damion Ratley.
It has been said that Bryant is focused on finding the right fit, but the same goes for the Browns in this instance. When the two sides meet – likely on Thursday – the Browns will also be careful to gauge Bryant’s temperament as they consider the effect he may have on the team.
Bryant, 29, hasn’t topped 1,000 yards receiving since 2014 and his 12.1 yards per reception in 2017 was the lowest average of his career. But he can still post up opposing defensive backs near the end zone and he’s motivated to silence his critics in 2018.
Awww come on Hue .. he’d fit right in with your cast of clowns.
Best part of Hard Knocks E1:
Hue tells Haley its My team, run it however the H i want!”
Todd Haley’s mental response, “yep. 0-16”
Think this will be a funny feud to watch, as Haley definitely would like nothing more than to take Hues place by week 10.
It’s really a circus, they beg him to meet with them and then decide they aren’t sure where he would fit. Is this a PR stunt to get fans to think they are still trying to improve the team or a complete lack of communication between staff and front office?
They sent a text message to Dez’s phone (which he was too lazy to acknowledge) so where are you getting this begging nonsense?
The same question could be asked of you …
Steelers fan here,
Browns, Bengals and Ravens should all be lined up to sign him. He could definitely help one of those teams get into the playoffs (considering thats best case for any of the 3)
However, I wouldnt want him on the Steelers, so i could see why fans of those teams wouldn’t want him on their perspective teams.
Bengals don’t need aging, overpaid, overhyped loud mouth and conceded azzholes .. fit right in on your Squeelers
Oh please he would fit right in with the joke team in Cincy.
Lol we will see won’t we..
Geez, aren’t you the positive type.
He’s a terrible fit and I’m really not sure why the Browns even want him. They’re not pushing for the playoffs, they’re a team trying to develop a lot of young talent and improve for the future and Dez accomplishes neither of those things.
His only contribution would be his ability to relieve some of the media pressure from Hue and other players.
They want him to mentor probably cuz they’re like top three youngest teams
He’d be a terrible mentor, might as well just let Josh Gordon mentor them if you want a horrible mentor.
of course the browns do not want him!!!
I highly doubt that landry would approve of this.
thinking he wanted to be and Cleveland promised he would be the top dog when he signed
Landry got a ton of money and he’s been a slot receiver his entire career so I doubt he really cares. He’s been recruiting Dez and OBJ to eventually join the Browns, so being the #1 doesn’t seem to matter to him as long as he still has a big role.
ok, maybe you are closer then me
I hope the browns tell him to shove it, let dez go cry about being out of a job just like CK is still doing now. Overpaid, trash player, loud mouth, and definitely not as good as he thinks he is!
