Reuben Foster’s accuser recanted her claims in court on Thursday, as Cam Inman of the Bay Area News Group tweets. The ex-girlfriend of the 49ers linebacker says he did not hit her once and adds that she actually struck him.
“I was threatening Reuben. … that I was going to [expletive] up his career,” Foster’s ex-girlfriend Elissa Ennis said.
When asked about why she dialed 911 three times, she responded, “I wanted to be extra. I wanted him to go down. I was pissed.” She went on to explain that she falsified claims about Foster as a part of “a money scheme.”
“It was all a money scheme. I didn’t want to get this far in the news. It was about money,” said Ennis on the stand.
After Foster’s arrest in February, Ennis says she bolted home for Louisiana and took Foster’s money and jewelry with her. Ennis’ injuries from around that same time were submitted as a part of the prosecution’s case against Foster, but she now says those were caused by a fight with another woman or two women in a road rage incident in San Francisco (Twitter link via Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area). A portion of the road rage fight was posted on Instagram, but has since been flagged and deleted.
Recently, 49ers GM John Lynch said that Foster would be released if it was found that he struck Ennis. However, if Foster is cleared of the charges without conclusive evidence of abuse, he’ll remain in SF. Right now, the odds of a conviction are looking slim.
“We do feel like patience is the right approach right now, that we are going to learn things through this legal process,” Lynch said. “But I do want to be very clear, abundantly clear, that if these charges are proven true, that if Reuben did indeed hit this young lady, he won’t be part of our organization going forward.”
This is why I have trust issues
Congrats! You successfully did it!
Me thinks there’s more to the story. Why recant now?
For the other money scheme.
Yeah, like a couple of hundred thousand reasons to recant her story. I would throw her ass in jail for a false report and see where the truth actually is.
Hahahaha too funny
If Elliot’s situation taught us anything, it’s that actual legal stipulations do not matter. Foster will still get suspended for 6 games, because the NFL doesn’t care about the law… only about appeasing lying women.
The thought that someone on Fosters team slipped her a hefty amount of money to reverse her story and end this case seems like a very likely scenario tight now.
Of course it does, because no one would ever lie to screw someone else over…
Doesn’t matter if he did it or not. It’s guilty even if proven innocent. That’s the 24-hr, no fact checking, twitter trolling, tmz news cycle we live in.
I am curious if shes going to get charged with anything though. I mean she basically admitted to stealing money and jewelry.
For the slander/defamation it’s a civil matter, which I think is stupid, his recourse is to sue her, but for what? She doesn’t have any money or she wouldn’t have done this in the first place. They need to start attaching 5-year min jail sentences to false accusations. That puts an end to it.
Never gonna happen. We would have to lock up half the press and 99% of conspiracy theorists.
There is a huge difference in conspiracy theory and making false accusations to the police. Conspiracy is the number one crime people are convicted of in the US. Theorizing that someone could be lying isn’t even close to lying for personal gain. The news however blatantly accuses people without evidence on a daily basis.

Foster would have to press charges against her for the theft
Lying to try to get money and ruin someone’s career and reputation is a great way to end up in a hole in the ground.
So she lied then but suddenly wants everyone to believe she is telling the truth?
If she lied then should be charged with filing a false police report and made to pay back the municipality for wasting tax payer money
Been there. Done that. During cross examination, she admitted to having done time in 2011 for another false domestic abuse allegation. Coincidentally, that was also a case where a (now-ex) boyfriend broke up with her.
This is why I never went pro.
The DA should be reprimanded for his going after Foster with all he had and not caring about the truth or determining it. The DA needs to apologize profusely to Reuben Foster and the permanent harm he has done to Reuben and the 49ers organization.
Foster’s ex-girlfriend testified that in 2011 she falsely accused another ex-boyfriend of domestic violence and spent time in jail for the false accusation. And yet the DA evidently did not know about this until the latest hearing from a lack of effort on his part.
The police detective who was investigating the case admitted Foster’s ex-girlfriend recanted her statement two days after the arrest, but he acknowledged never following up on her claim of the fight with another woman. Finally, he testified that the guns found at Foster’s home had been legally purchased in Alabama.
