The market for Dez Bryant is not nearly as strong as he expected it to be. At this point, there are “far more” teams unwilling to pay Bryant the league minimum salary than there are teams that would consider Bryant, Adam Schefter of ESPN.com reports (via PFT).
Bryant recently turned down a multi-year offer from the Ravens and Ian Rapoport of NFL.com (video link) hears that it was in the neighborhood of the team’s three-year, $21MM deal for Michael Crabtree. The wide receiver wanted a one-year deal that would allow him to cash in as a free agent in 2019, but the Ravens could only offer Bryant a multi-year deal due to cap restrictions.
Right now, it looks like Bryant has overplayed his hand. Bryant may have to settle for less than the $7MM average annual value he would have gotten from Baltimore, which is a tough pill to swallow given his previous five-year, $70MM deal with Dallas.
Bryant says that he would like to sign with an NFC East team in order to play against Dallas twice in 2018, but it’s not clear whether he’ll find serious interest from the Eagles or Giants. We learned shortly after Bryant’s release from the Cowboys that the Redskins are not looking to sign him.
You did the right thing Dez
Sincerely, Colin Kaepernick
Hilarious
Surprise Surprise Surprise!
You did the right thing dez
Sincerely ravens fans
Nope – I’d love to bring him on board. Even after his down year, he’d be our #1. Hell, Crab is our #1 right now and he’s coming off a down year. No doubt I’d feel better with those two on the outside than having brown out there for three games before he’s hurt.
And when is Belicek gonna come out and low ball Dez with the promise of a ring if he can behave ??
That would work out well for both of them if it’s a one year deal honestly. Tom Brady would have a lot of fun with Dez. Not sure he can be a Patriot guy though.
After being humbled by this development then I could see it being scary. Dez on a 3MM/1 year deal. Tom is so big that I think Dez would quiet down. This is coming from a Cowboys fan.
I will beat Dez would like to talk to Jerry Jones for one last time…
Dez with Brady would be like Brady with Moss. Crazy numbers but we all know how that turned out.
Dez Bryant is NOT Randy Moss. So no.. not crazy numbers.
Obviously Dez is not Randy Moss genius, where did they say he is? He can still put up crazy numbers with a good qb… which was the whole point that they were making dude
Enjoy your retirement Dez we won’t miss your antics one bit
Settle for a one year deal with any team with a decent QB and prove yourself, then look for a big contract
Oh and I forgot to mention grow up and cut the attitude or retire
Don’t think he will, seems he is ADHD!
Nobody is gonna pay him what he wants. Even if he takes a one year deal for some poor team. Even be a free agent next year he won’t get what he wants. Shoulda actually played ball like he was paid to do and he would prob still be with the Cowboys. But Dez shot hisself in his own foot. Bye Dez. Go crawling back to Lufkin TX and be a pee wee coach if you can handle that
No chance of him going back to Dallas after what he said about them and wanting to stick it to them. Also, when the Dallas VP comes out publicly and says he was cut because he was giving diminishing production and couldn’t beat one-on-one coverage anymore, I honk that means you’re done in Dallas. Also, with the fact that there aren’t any teams beating his door down with deals, even for the veteran minimum, makes me realize the league sees he’s done as well. Maybe he can join Romo and Whitten in the MNF booth?
When they (NFL) were handing out brains, Dez missed the train.
Dez can want to sign with this team and demand whatever money he wants but that means nothing. He should be lucky to just accept any offer and get in shape to play. welcome to the salary revolution Dez where NFL players are following suit with baseball trends.
Would be HILARIOUS if no team offered him a contract! Gets what he deserves for being a cry baby.
Kind of stupid to turn down the Ravens deal especially when Bryant has lost at least two steps since his “salad days” in Dallas. Dez isn’t the smartest bird in the NFL.
Looks like no team in NFC East wants Dez at his price or on a 1 year deal. Better sign the Ravens deal or retire.
Let’s see..
Clubhouse cancer
Only wants to play for NFC East team
Demands one year deal
And wonders why he’s not signed??
