The Browns will be bringing in all four of quarterbacks linked to them at No. 1 overall this week, with Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com reporting Josh Rosen‘s visit will round out a busy week of powwows between Browns brass and highly touted passing prospects.
But the most accomplished college quarterback in this draft will also visit the Browns soon. Next week, Lamar Jackson will be summoned to Cleveland to meet with the Browns, Nate Ulrich of ohio.com reports. Yahoo Sports first reported this meeting would commence.
Hue Jackson said at the league meetings last week he wouldn’t neglect the 2016 Heisman Trophy winner and 2017 Heisman finalist, and Ulrich notes the Browns are intrigued by Jackson’s dual-threat abilities. The Louisville phenom is expected to be selected after the Browns’ draft windows open, being projected to go later in the first round.
Jackson already went through a private workout with the Texans, but that would be an incredibly unlikely union due to Houston’s investment in the 2016 Heisman Trophy runner-up. Jackson could still be on the board by the time the Browns pick again at No. 33, but with the franchise widely expected to select a passer at No. 1 overall, a Jackson landing spot figures to be away from Cleveland. John Dorsey said a two-quarterback draft won’t be likely to occur on his watch.
This is a waste of Lamar Jackson’s time and a waste of a visit by the browns.
He wouldn’t be the 1st player to waste his time in Cleveland and get a free meal
Haha I will not disagree with that assessment.
Not a waste if they trade back to stockpile picks and still get him later in the first.
That would be foolish… a guy that teams want to work out as a wr and again pass on a potential franchise qb.
It is the Browns 2.0, foolish is what they do…
“a guy that SOME teams want to work out as a wr and again pass on a potential franchise qb” EXCEPT that for all the hype about this QB class, it’s been more about the quantity than the quality, with no consensus #1 or even #2 QB. And how many potential franchise QB’s drafted in the first round have flamed out while others were found on Day 2 or even Day 3 of the draft? Jackson could make sense in Cleveland, especially if they decided to go all-in on a scheme tailored to his and Tyrod Taylor’s mobility.
I think the Steelers are very seriously considering taking Jackson if he’s still available in the late first round.
Lolllll
What?
And it would make a ton of sense for the Steelers to do so, if the Patriots don’t do it first with their newly acquired 23rd pick in the draft.
Browns have had an uncharacteristically good off season so far, so it’s with that which most of us Browns fans are waiting for the major screwup that neutralizes any gains thrusting them back into the abyss of the bottom dwellers.
If the Browns trade down either pick, he could be their target with a later selection.
