On Tuesday, the Seahawks released quarterback Trevone Boykin following horrifying allegations of domestic violence from his girlfriend. In response, Boykin has released a statement denying that he was involved in a physical altercation with Shabrika Bailey last week.
“I understand the Seahawks’ decision to release me. The story that was reported casts a bad light on the organization and on me. I want to be clear that the story is false,” Boykin said (Twitter link via Ian Rapoport of NFL.com). “The police have taken statements from the accuser, another witness, and me. All of these statements confirm that I was not involved in the physical altercation. This woman has lied about me and it has cost my job. I know guilt by association is real. This person has fabricated a story and I am suffering the consequences. I will let the legal system run its course and I know I will be vindicated.”
Bailey claims that an extremely violent incident with Boykin left her with a broken jaw and a constricted airway, resulting in a lengthy hospital stay. She also says that this was not a one-time event.
Needless to say, Boykin will not be on the radar for NFL teams while matters are hashed out in court.
Of course he’ll say he didn’t do it. Was someone actually expecting he would say he did it?
It’s happened before.
If he didn’t though…He needs to sue her. This just cost him his job and will affect him receiving any other opportunities in the NFL. I’ve noticed in this day & age it’s Guilty until proven Innocent.
So whatever happened to due process in this country??? I am innocent until proven guilty!!!
That doesn’t apply in the court of public opinion. And when that court finds you guilty you become bad for business. If you are bad for business, you are gone.
Or if your zeke Elliott you are innocent in court of law but not nfl
In terms of NFL discipline, it’s arbitrary and fairly random.
Anyone can say anything and ruin anyone’s life these days…. Well, except Trump obviously.
She’s not just “anyone”. She’s a girlfriend that had her jaw broken in multiple places and her airway swollen shut… or according to Boykin, “this woman.”
How in the F do you know? You don’t ! It’s all speculation at this point. You were not there
and don’t know what actually happened . Stop acting like you do. Nobody but the people involved know the truth !
Something tells me “this woman” is no longer his girlfriend.
Sounds like a big misunderstanding to me. Perhaps this #metoo movement has gone to far. I’m sure his attorney will easily prove this crazy woman shattered her own jaw and choked herself, to later blame on her loving BF. I mean seriously, that stuff happens all the time. Once this witness “names their price” he or she is will surely help exonerate this poor man.
Sincerely, Ray Rice
Hahaha!
A woman scorned is a dangerous thing…..
Minimum 6 game suspension from the nfl needs to be levied on him for this
What if she lied and he didn’t do anything?
Who broke her jaw then? Thats a crazy thing to do to yourself just to get revenge.
Don’t forget the $2.5 million fine, if not more if charges actually go through. Remember, in the Zeke case, all of the proof/witnesses/testimony pointed to the woman legitimately being a gold digger (for lack of a better term, but if you read the police report this is true – she was extorting him) and falsifying every detail. So it never went to court or anything beyond the police’s due diligence.
If this actually gets somewhere, we could be talking lifetime bans, death penalty for the Seahawks organization, expansion team in London to replace them, etc. I kid, but I guarantee that whatever happens, the league will come down much harder on the Seahawks than they should.
If the accusation was against Russel Wilson, the Seahawks would have refused to “comment on a pending legal matter.”
I get that “presumption of innocence” meaning “wait until the jury reaches a verdict” is long gone in our rabidly mindless, knee jerk society…but…
Now they don’t even wait for charges. An accusation with no proof is all it takes.
Crazy.
In all seriousness, have you watched the interview of his now ex-girlfriend?

Take a look and I’m sure you will see why the Seahawks did the right thing. He is not a first time offender and obviously struggles with anger management.
If his guilt is so obvious, why hasn’t he been charged yet?
Now, I was unfamiliar with his past, but…are you familiar with her’s?
“On March 27, 2017, Boykin was arrested in Dallas, Texas for misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and public intoxication. At around 2:10 A.M., he was in the passenger seat of a car driven by Shabrika Bailey that, while backing up at high speeds, struck pedestrians on a nearby sidewalk and then the side of a local bar. The driver was charged with two counts of felony intoxication assault with a vehicle.”
She’s not exactly a model citizen, either. You want to live in a society where a person like that can just make any claim and ruin lives?
I’d prefer to let the system get a bit further along in the process first. It’s easy enough to suspend him and then cut him if/when the charges are filed.
Boykin hasn’t been a Saint since his collegiate days. He’s made mistakes and been given chances to overcome them. He’s failed twice since as a Seahawk. He may well get picked back up by the Hawks because I think he’s a decent backup. I think in the 2016 season if Wilson had set his ego aside and sat out with his injury Boykin might not be in his current situation… Success can be a positive game changer. It’s unfortunate that he’s continued to make mistakes in his personal life, even with who his mentors are supposed to be on Hawks. Bad situation all over. Hope he’s not on his way to becoming another statistic of a player who had potential, but squandered his opportunity.
Sounds like they’re made for each other
I can assure you he will be charged, but funny you should ask, I am a private investigator and the majority of my cases are alleged DV assaults. (Criminal Defense attorneys hire me to investigate the allegations/charges so they can better defend their client). I have seen cases similar to this from both sides and agree there is always more to the story. However after seeing her interview and reviewing the facts from his prior incidents, his defense attorney is facing a tough battle. Unless the attorney can get the text messages he sent her after taking off from the hospital thrown out, he will most likely seek a plea deal. Ofcourse his reasoning to the public will be that he doesn’t want to put her through a difficult and emotional trial. Followed by a public statement saying he would like to put this all behind him and move on. Keep in mind they were high school sweethearts. It doesn’t take an expert or genius to understand what happened.
Sad. Hope she gets away from him before he kills her.
How long will it take for Trevone Boykin and Ray Rice to collaborate on a reality TV series?
