Michael Crabtree is making his first visit. The wideout is set to meet with the Ravens, reports ESPN’s Adam Schefter (via Twitter). The Ravens are “going hard” after the veteran, who was released by the Raiders today, according to Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com (Twitter link).
Following the Nelson signing, Oakland released Crabtree today. There had been whispers of Crabtree’s exit from Oakland for some time, although Jon Gruden seemed to indicate that Crabtree would be back with the team in 2018. Crabtree had been productive during his time with the Raiders, as he hauled in at least eight touchdowns in each of his three seasons. However, the 30-year-old’s production dropped in 2017, as he finished with 58 receptions and and 618 yards – his lowest totals since 2013.
Earlier today, our own Zach Links eyed Marqise Lee‘s new contract with the Jaguars as a basis for a Crabtree deal. Lee can earn a maximum of $38MM over the course of his four-year contract. Even if Crabtree’s “true” average annual value falls short of $9.5MM, it’s still a good indicator of what Crabtree can expect to get in free agency
They definitely could use him. Haven’t been a big fan of their moves at WR this free agency so far.
Brown is a “we’ll see”. The more I learn about Grant, the more I like the signing. I agree neither one is earthshaking. If they sign Crabtree and draft someone early I think or receivers will be solid. Still need a TE.
Would love them to draft penn states tight end
So much for Grant! Sheesh. BTW I like the Penn St TE also.
I agree. Now I’m reading Grant deal might not happen though. They should for sure get this guy, I know he had some drops last year but he has some great hands and would do really well there I think. They should for sure draft a TE and or another WR even after getting him if they do. Not a Ravens fan just a fan of football but this would just make too much sense for them not to get it done.
Crabtree would be a good red zone target and a much better allocation of money than Grant at he price of his reported contract. Hopefully, the recently reported snag will drive his price down significantly and make it easier to add both he and Crabtree.
If they are, “going hard” for him then they will get him. I don’t see anyone else.
With Grants deal voided there is no way he leaves without a contract. Better WR then Grant. Could be the WR Flacco needs
Flacco has had solid receivers, but unfortunately, wideouts don’t all of a sudden give a QB pocket presence or decision making skills.
Either way, Crabtree represents a big upgrade. Hopefully Marty M can stop getting in the way of the offense being productive.
Obviously Grant wanted those guarantees, because of injury good to move away from him
