The Packers have reached out to the representatives for tight end Jimmy Graham, according to Mike Garafolo and Tom Pelissero of NFL.com (on Twitter). Graham is one of the best tight ends available in this year’s free agent crop and is PFR’s No. 2 ranked player at the position.
The Packers tried to upgrade at tight end last offseason by signing Martellus Bennett to a free agent contract. That deal quickly went sideways, but the Packers remain determined to find a quality red zone threat for Aaron Rodgers at tight end.
Graham was the league’s highest-paid tight end over the last four years with average annual salary of $10MM. He’s not quite the same player that he was in New Orleans, but he’ll also cost a lot less for any team that signs him.
The Saints are said to have interest in a reunion with Graham, but the Packers also profile as a contender and should be of interest to the veteran.
do work Gutes!
Sign jimmy graham !
Sign Sammy Watkins
Sign Ladarius Webb and trumaine Johnson
Let Randall cobb walk…
Draft Marcus Davenport or Denzel Ward with 14th overall pick .
Extend Aaron Rodgers
Let clay Mathews walk or extend for 3 years .
Win Super Bowl
There you go gute there is your offseason plan ! Make it happen !!!
How much cap space do the Packers even have? I understand that extending Rodgers would most likely cut some of his cap hit, but I can’t imagine the Packers have enough space to go after Watkins, Graham, AND one of the top CBs on the market.
ugh, that looks like a 3rd place finish behind Minnesota and Detroit to me.
let Matthews walk or extend him? (do you want him back or not?)
extend rodgers? (good luck making any of those other moves then)
let Cobb walk? (horrible idea, way to valuable to dump for nothing)
Sign Graham? (GB doesn’t use the TE, this would be a waste of a roster spot and money)
you do know that be extending and restructuring Rodgers that opens up more cap room right? its a necessity to make some of the moves
although judging by the rest of your comments you obviously dont know anything about the NFL so why bother trying to explain that to you
Ray do you understand football or do you just like trolling packer posts? I don’t think it’s likely they do all the above but that would be a division title not a 3rd place finish. You do understand extending Rodgers will spread out his overall cap hit and give the Packers more cap room right? Clearly saying if Matthews won’t extend (or restructure) his deal let him go and save the cap space. Letting Cobb walk would save 10M in cap space and you replace him with Sammy is a win. Have you watched Rodgers when he’s actually had TE to throw to? Cook or Finley ring a bell?
Do you understand Cobb is extreamly valuable and they would be stupid to actually cut him without trading him? If he was cut he’d be picked up by Chicago in a heartbeat. Trade him, get something for him and decide where he goes instead of a division rival. It’s common sense, GB doesn’t know how to use him, it doesn’t mean he sucks. Cutting Matthews is the only option, he’s not good at all. Sign Graham, great idea, the last TE signing went so well, let’s try it again. Extending Rodgers is not going to be easy, I don’t care what GB is saying, what do you expect them to say to their fans?
So you’d recommend not extending Aaron Rodgers?
quiet troll
of course you extend him, good luck doing it though
especially after all the other teams outbid them for WR’s and TE’s. GB is cheap
“Packers interested in Jimmy Graham” is kinda like me saying I’m interested in A. J. Cook. I doubt either scenario results in a relationship of any kind.
cmon, if you are gonna try and be clever/funny gotta at least come up with someone we dont gave to google first.
and secondly, she’s alright but for that analogy man find someone more unattainable. otherwise its just like “ok…….so what now?”
I’ll be sure to check with you next time. I’m sure you wouldn’t have to google your mom..but you said more unattainable, so that probably leaves her out.
Could always release Cobb/Nelson and re sign them. I think both would like to come back even if they were released.
Cobb wouldn’t
Like like Jordy may not either. Seems he’s visiting the raiders.
I really thought he’d be one who would at least listen to the idea of restructuring…wonder if anything of that nature was brought up, by either side, before he was let go.
