The Giants have asked for at least two first-round picks in return for Odell Beckham Jr., a league source tells ESPN.com’s Adam Schefter (on Twitter). Meanwhile, the Giants continue to insist that they are not shopping the standout wide receiver.
Although OBJ is among the league’s very best receivers, an asking price of two first-round picks is probably too high to facilitate a deal. The 25-year-old is entering the final year of his rookie deal and is reportedly considering a holdout if he does not get a pricey contract extension. Even if Beckham Jr. backs off of that stance, a team would have to address his long-term future at some point or use the expensive franchise tag to keep him in the fold for 2019.
There’s also behavioral and health concerns to keep in mind. In March, Beckham was caught in a video which may have contained drug use and he has occasionally lost his cool on the field. Last season, a fractured ankle limited Beckham to just four games and he missed the start of his rookie year due to a hamstring issue.
We’re not looking to deal him, but if we were, we’d need 2 first round picks. But again, not looking to deal him…
The Giants are not going to get that kind of offer but I bet they will end up taking the best offer!
That front office is high. Two firsts for 1 year of a rehabbing OBJ. No wonder that team stinks.
High? Maybe they’ve been hanging out with him.
You must be a cowgirl fan
The Giants own this liability. They should take whatever is offered and be happy…
Do you have any idea how dumb you sound? He’s one of the most talented players in the league. Let me guess, you hate then Giants and can’t look past your hatred? Cool story bro.
What is going on in NY?
Can’t blame them for asking for 2 #1 picks. Set the bar high and if no one meets it you still have a top WR.
Assuming he doesn’t decide to just sit the season out, or report for only the last 6 games (minimum to get credit for the full year). Heck, he could take the Dez route too – report, be in uniform every game, and simply walk off the field whenever he feels like it.
Sure, ask for 2 #1’s. When you don’t get it, don’t assume you should keep him anyway. You may just have to take the best offer.
Pats should do it they pick at the end first anyways and bill always trades it anyways
They aren’t trading him.Just trying to bring him to his senses.
Sounds about right, they’re pretty much saying, blow use away with 2-1st round picks because we don’t want to trade him.
If the Rams can pull off any deal for him, they will be one of the best teams in the game for several years.
Reminds me of when Ben Roethlisberger got in trouble in his early career. Steelers front office put word out there that they would consider dealing him for two 1st round picks, but really never intended to trade him, just slap some sense into him.
Ironically, the Rooneys are very close to the Giants ownership group. Same gameplan in play here. If OBJ shapes up, he’ll get his extension after next season. If not, he’ll play out his rookie deal and then be allowed to walk.
They’re extended family
What’s that old Dean Martin song. “To Dream the impossible Dream”
If Coughlin liked him while in NY then maybe a Jags trade makes sense.
They pick late anyway…..don’t have a #1 WR on the roster.
And they are built to win NOW.
Also…..OBJ and Fournette are close.
If the Seahawks can’t get a 1st and 3rd for Thomas, good luck getting two 1st rounders for Beckham.
That’s what i’m saying.
[Randy Jackson voice] Yeah it’s a no from me dog
i heard a conditional CFL draft pick will get it done.
I would ask for a Kilo for him. Hell, Odell could deliver on that asking price.
Beckham is worth 2 first round picks….but only if those picks are Johnny Manziel and Trent Richardson.
Don’t forget about Justin Gilbert and Brandon Weeden
Send him to DAL for Dez and a pick
2 first round picks… Come on giants. If he was completely healthy then they have a chance but no way after a injury. OBJ doesn’t seem like a guy that will change his tone because of this IMO.
So 2 first rounders and then that team has to pay him close to, if not more, than 20 mil a season?
Good luck with that one
Can’t blame them for reaching high. He’s a top player in his prime, and a game changer. If they get offered a 1st round pick though straight up they should consider it. Especially if in the top 15.
