The best free agent left on the board could soon sign with an NFC contender. Both the Cowboys and the Seahawks are interested in defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, according to Dianna Russini of ESPN.com (on Twitter). However, ESPN’s Josina Anderson reports (via Twitter) that the Cowboys aren’t interested in the hulking lineman.
Suh was officially released on Wednesday, clearing the way for teams to sign him. The Dolphins first tried to move his contract in a trade, but they were (unsurprisingly) unsuccessful in that effort. The defensive tackle was in the midst of a six-year, $114MM contract that Miami wishes they could take back.
Suh was no doubt overpaid – we could have told you that at the time of his deal – but he is still an impact player. He graded out as Pro Football Focus’ No. 4 interior defensive lineman in the NFL last season and is a three-time All-Pro. The 31-year-old clearly had a productive campaign last season, as he finished the season with 48 tackles and 4.5 sacks.
Suh would obviously slot into both the Seahawks and Cowboys starting lineup. Seattle is currently rostering defensive tackles Jarran Reed, Nazair Jones, Malik McDowell, and Garrison Smith. Meanwhile, Brian Price and Maliek Collins are projected to be in the Cowboys starting lineup.
This is patter. Cowboys have zero money in cap space to sign anyone .
False. There is multiple players still liable to be released and a few contract restructures away from creating $15MM+
I feel likethe Cowboys are in on everyone. I think Oakland wouldnt be a bad spot. Plus we all know the Redskins will over pay for a DT. Guess we will have to wait to see what the market is. I think the Browns would be a good fit.
Cowboys and Seahawks NFC contenders? Last season definitely makes me think differently.
You realize that the Cowboys best player didn’t play half the season?
Maybe he should stop beating up women and he can play of full season! Spare me the he didn’t do it crap!
Maybe you should stop beating up women too. Spare me the you didn’t do it crap
So there’s only 12 games in an NFL season now??
I don’t think Seattle wants him…he’s 31. We already got rid of Bennett. We need to get younger. Plus…we didn’t clear some cap space just to have Suh eat it all back up. So glad Jimmy ain’t coming back either. Save $ on Suh and sign Seferian-Jenkins if you can get him for something decent.
Cowboys franchised Lawrence so they have no cap space for another highly paid d lineman. Seattle makes since because they have no d line depth and Suh’s from Oregon. The draft is down on pass rush as well and Suh doesn’t cost a compensatory pick. ASJ would cost a pick to sign and I would rather see them resign Luke Willison and play Vannett more.
Welcome to Jerrys world Suh
The Browns should be in on him but not for 15 million a year. I could see them doing 10 million a year.
Lol…Malik McDowell. That moron will do something else stupid this offseason & wont see the field this upcoming season either.
Raiders…all the way
Does Dallas ever learn from signing idiots like this???
Draft a DT, sign a corner or safety. Cheaper, and bigger need.
Yes sign him Dallas more cancer in the locker room
The reason a massive run stuffing DT makes so much sense for Dallas is that it takes a lot off the shoulders of Sean Lee and now Jaylon Smith (with Hitchens gone). Sign Suh and your chances of keeping Lee on the field all season are significantly increased
I’d love to see Dallas sign Suh or the Honey Badger. Unlikely to happen, but I can only hope.
Are the cowboys interested in anyone? What a hopeless franchise
