The Cardinals have signed Mike Glennon, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport (via Twitter). Peter Schrager of NFL.com (on Twitter) had first reported that the organization was going to sign the quarterback. The deal is worth $8MM over two years.

Glennon now projects to be the No. 2 quarterback on the Cardinals’ depth chart, behind the newly-signed Sam Bradford. Bradford played in just two games for the Vikings last season, so the Cardinals placed considerable value on their backup QB spot. Glennon flamed out in his one month as the Bears’ starter last year, but he was still among the best available QB2 types in this year’s market.
Last year, Glennon inked a three-year, $45MM free agent contract with the Bears after receiving interest from multiple teams. This year, the Cardinals were the only team linked to the 6’7″ signal caller.
I’m done with the cardinals
Better than Stanton
I can tell you that is 100% incorrect. Glennon lost his job to someone that had absolutely no designs of playing until week 13 at the earliest. Trubisky took over in Week 5.
Still think they should of went AJ McCarron and Glennon as the back up instead of Bradford. That’s asking for a replay of last year with QB injury issues
As a Bears fan, God I hope he plays haha
you win 3,000,000 internets
1. Why sign Bradford for $18 let alone 18M.
2. Why go with 2 guys that you know are not starting quality QBs over a guy with potential like AJ?
Bradford is absolutely a starting quality QB, an above average one at that. The only real question with him, and it is a major one, is the status of his left knee.
Will they still draft a qb early?
No, because RG3 is still available.
They’ve got the 15th pick in the first round, and there’s a real chance none of the five consensus Round One QB’s last that far, especially if the Bills trade up again, this time into the Top 10 or even the Top 5. And the Bills might have to do that with Miami sitting at #11. If I were the Cardinals, I might trade back into the mid-20’s and reach a bit for Mason Rudolph, who’s generally projected to go in the second round.
So he’s your starter since Bradford will be on IR by Labor Day.
They are probably paying Bradford and Glennon a combined $25M … almost as much as Cousins
Yes he is probably better than staton. But I was really hoping to see them sign aj. So disappointed!
He isn’t. Statues move more than he does in the pocket. He also has zero situational awareness from the sides. Or the front…
As a Bears fan, I thought the Bears should have traded for Glennon two years earlier after he lost his starting job! I was wrong! Glennon is a horrible QB. He looked scared and unsure while in the pocket! He fumble the ball just as many times as he threw an interception! He was horrible! Maybe he was horrible because the Bears had bad receivers? No! He looked scared and unsure! The guy is 6’8 and played with fear in his eyes!
Glennon’s only been a Bear for one season, 2017, and if they had traded him after he lost the starting job, I’m not sure who they would have had to back up Mitch Trubisky. I would have recommended signing Colin Kaepernick, but then I’m a natural born sh*t-stirrer. 🙂
