The Browns have re-signed linebacker Tank Carder, the club announced today.
Carder missed the entire 2017 campaign after suffering a torn ACL, but given that the injury occurred last August, it’s fair to assume that he’ll be ready for the upcoming season. Given that he’s recovering from a serious injury, it’s likely that Carder inked a one-year deal with little or no guaranteed money.
Carder, 29, is a linebacker in name only, as he rarely plays on the defensive side of the ball. However, he’s a key cog on Cleveland’s special teams unit, and he’s seen at least 60% ST playtime in each of his healthy Browns seasons. A former fifth-round pick, Carder has been with Cleveland since 2012, and was voted a team captain in 2016.
Y’know what we need more of? More football players named “Tank”.
I think Carder was going to start over Shoebert last year before he got injured. I’m not sure if I buy that he’s a linebacker “in name only”… but I do agree he’s needed on ST more than the defense.
I was going to say the same thing but you worded it well
He sure was
