Things just keep getting uglier in Ezekiel Elliott‘s fight with the league office. The Cowboys’ star running back has filed suit against the NFL in Texas federal court, alleging that he is the victim of a “league-orchestrated conspiracy…to hide critical information” from commissioner Roger Goodell and other key decision makers.
Elliott’s camp argues that the league’s director of investigations, Kia Roberts, found accuser Tiffany Thompson to be “not credible” in her allegations and saw little evidence to support her claims. His team alleges that the league then kept Roberts away from meetings in which experts made recommendations to Goodell. Furthermore, Roberts chronicled her concerns about Thompson in an internal memo entitled “Tiffany Thompson Inconsistency Transcripts,” a league source told Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports.
The NFL denies any wrongdoing.
“They’re trying to create a grand conspiracy story where none exists,” league spokesman Joe Lockhart told Tom Pelissero of NFL.com.
Lockhart says there is no truth to allegations that the league kept Roberts’ concerns away from Goodell. In fact, he says the commissioner was aware of her doubts heading into the aforementioned meetings. At the same time, Lockhart says that it is not common for someone in Roberts’ role to make a disciplinary recommendation.
“In fact, at Kia’s level, she wouldn’t, and she didn’t [make a recommendation for discipline],” Lockhart said. “She made her point of view on particularly the credibility issues known in the report; they are reflected in the report. It is the commissioner and the commissioner’s sole role to decide on discipline. In fact, the union filed a grievance to force him not to delegate the decision [on disciplinary decisions].”
What a prima Dona
What if he’s actually innocent?
Just read a story on another site where he was saying they weren’t dating she was just one of many women he had sex with. Then they had texts showing him referring to her as his girlfriend and saying he wants to marry her. Then she claimed they lived together. He and his father both denied it. Then they had evidence of her living with him.
My point to all of this is I don’t think Thompson is a credible source, but I don’t think Zeke is either. He and his team are going to have a really hard time contending the league in court if they can prove he lied.
He is innocent until proven guilty in the court of law. This is a witch hunt.
Sorry, no one is convicting him of anything. The NFL is a business and they’re running it the way they want. Sadly it isn’t about guilt it’s about their public image.
Well that’s not going to help him
Alex Jones is going to invite Zeke to InfoWars
well done
Haha, nice
He has a case
I have more of a Rapaport opinion of Zeke. But you have to raise your eyes at the fact this first woman recommended zero suspension. The gap between 0-6 is insane. Something just doesn’t seem right. But I imagine things were leaning towards him keeping the suspension for him to cry conspiracy before a ruling. The NFL has got to get better with this though.
I’m so sick of NFL suspensions. What is originally reported never turns into the actual punishment. Lawsuit after lawsuit is just ridiculous. No other major sport makes a circus out of punishment. The entire process needs blown up and reworked
The presumption of innocence stands. It’s not on Zeke to prove his innocence but rather the NFL to prove he is guilty.
This is actually not true in civil matters. In civil cases all the NFL has to prove is it is more probably than not that a crime was committed. Not saying they have but since the NFL isn’t a law enforcement agency they really aren’t bound to criminal law. They would more likely err on the side of civil law.
This is going to be a lawsuit about whether the NFL messed up in their process and not whether Elliott beat his girlfriend or not. It’s already pretty well known that they didn’t have the evidence to get a guilty verdict in court
They don’t need a guilty verdict. It’s not about guilt hahaha, it’s about whether or not him being involved in this kind of story reflects poorly on the brand.
Ok so if every man in the league is falsely accused of beating someone then are they just not going to have an NFL anymore?
Zekes an idiot….they wouldve cut the suspension to 3…now if he loses he’ll have to serve the entire 6 and if it happens late in the season could derail the cowFelons chances.
Cowboys ma’am Cowboys!
Every team has them fckphil. Including yours.
No team has the quantity that the cowboys do and no team refuses to acknowledge the crimes the way the cowboys do. Greg hardy. Enough said.
Who says they would have cut the suspension…?
He and John Gotti are both innocent
Fugettaboutit
Shut up Elliot, you did something wrong
Elliott is getting in deeper doo-doo. Needs to quit before he sees himself banned from the NFL.
