Colin Kaepernick has been criticized by some for not publicly stating his desire to play in the NFL. On Sunday, Kaepernick broke his silence and made his intentions clear.
“Yes,” Kaepernick said when asked by Shaun King of the Daily News (Twitter link) if he wants to play . “I’ve never stopped. I’m ready right now. Working out daily.”
Kaepernick is reportedly working out five days a week and is back to his 2013 weight of 230 pounds. This offseason, the 29-year-old was knocked for his slender frame and for not announcing that he wants to get back into football. He has now checked those boxes, but it’s not clear if or when he will get an opportunity to play. It’s possible that Kaepernick could get a call from a contending club in the event of an injury, but that would require him to learn someone’s playbook on the fly.
For now, it sounds like it’s NFL-or-bust for Kaepernick. But, if the NFL doesn’t come calling and he has a change of heart, he could have a place on the Montreal Alouettes.
Dear Zach ,
Why so many Kaepernick articles. Instead of making a story out of nothing, wait until he signs and then have a big story. All these stories do is bring up a political discussion and that leads to feelings being hurt.
^^^100 times!!
Thanks for making a great point!!!!!
Best Kapernick post EVER!
I’ve got an idea, let’s stop talking about this guy altogether. He’s a crappy QB and a worse human being. There is nothing redeeming about this clown. Learn to drive a truck Kaepernick and shut your mouth until you you have a better understanding of the world.
2nded!
Yesssssss!
Honestly, enough with shoving this opinionated rhetoric, this is a reason why I can’t stand the left and right wings and their self-righteousness
Zack….you are better than this! Stop pandering! There’s actual games today….you know…? Where is your, “What’s RG3 up to article…?” Give it a rest! PLEASE!!!! “What did Johnny Manziel have for breakfast today..?” STOP!!!!!
The funny thing is how many of the “Kaepernick is the best QB out of a job and clearly is being black balled” people laugh when RG3 is brought up and call him a bust. RG3 has had a statistically better career. If you bring up that a team should trade with the Cardinals to acquire Blaine Gabbert they laugh. Neither Kaepernick or Gabbert were able to beat the other out and stay the starter in San Francisco (even before the national anthem issue arose) so that shows they’re not laughably far apart. The only difference really is that Kaepernick turned himself into a brand then demanded to be paid for his brand and not for his performance. He’s the Kardashian of quarter backs. If not for the national anthem protest he’d either have been forced to take a low cost deal as a backup to re-establish himself (like so many other QB’s have had to do) or he’d be out of the league (only no one would be talking about it or be outraged by it).
Thank u…..exactly ! Famous for being famous…..not because of his skills or playing ability. I’d rather have a healthy RG3…..I’m sure he’s against oppression too…..just keeps it too himself while he reads the playbook.
Oh stop the presses!! The latest on Colin Kaepeenick! Who gives a crap!
if Colin has an issue with the stiff in the US and wants to be a q.b. why is he not already in the CFL
How about a little honesty here, If he really wanted to play, why did he opt out of a contract that paid him $20M a year, ummmm and a real journalist should include that, but I guess we don’t have any of those any longer, just “Fake News”
He opted out because he was told that he would be cut if he did not. Quit or be fired.
Yea Zach, why do you keep writing these articles, don’t you know that no one cares! Oh, you must be getting mixed messages, because they are the most posted on articles on the site!
Keep up the good work. Even if there isn’t anything to report, this issue needs to stay in the public. Maybe we should get a link to Max Kellerman’s video take on the Kap blackballing.
nfl’s a private company. they can hire/fire at will. it’s not a podium to push individual agendas i.e. Michael Sam
The NFL could put a stop to this protest b.s. tomorrow by just playing the anthem before the players take the field. Ah but that would be to simple a solution.
If they played the anthem before the players came out 1. You’re figuratively “giving in to the terrorists” as the old saying goes and 2. The malcontents will find other ways to protest like the pig socks that Kaepernick wore. You make them conform or get out of the league. That’s the simple solution. This is a business where you can get fired if you behave like an uninformed idiot.
Funny how Nassib gets a job but a guy who actually plays and is decent doesn’t . I’d take him on the Eagles in a heart beat . Makes no sense why he isn’t on a roster
He’s not on a roster because no team wants to piss their fan base off. It’s as simple as that
