Jaguars owner Shad Khan says he would be “absolutely” be okay with his team adding Colin Kaepernick if his football people recommended signing him (Twitter links via Mike Dempsey of 1010XL). To date, those football people have yet to show much interest in signing the controversial quarterback.

Some have argued that the Jaguars should take a look at Kaepernick given that Blake Bortles‘ struggles have left Chad Henne as the team’s likely frontrunner for the starting job. But, so far, the Jaguars have not shown interest in adding any free agent quarterback to the mix.
Kaepernick might not interest chief decision maker Tom Coughlin given his football-first mentality and distaste for potential locker room distractions. Also, Coughlin’s offenses have historically been built around pocket passers. Still, it’s notable that Khan has publicly said that he would give the green light to a Kaepernick deal and things could always change in the front office if Henne or Bortles can’t cut it as the starter.
On Thursday, we learned that the Jaguars could look to trade Bortles (if he’s willing to rework his contract) or just release him outright. If Bortles were to suffer a serious injury on the field this season, the Jags would be on the hook for his $19MM+ fifth-year option in 2018.
Big locker room distraction for a backup quarterback who is no better than what they have. He might get a chance if someone goes down during the season. I would put in his contract that any protests have to be off the field on his time.
Why don’t you just go back your meetings/ rallies and mind your own business.
*to your
Assumptions bruh that was the dumbest thing I’ve read all day lmao
Go back to what meetings and rallies? If I am an owner paying a guy millions I do not expect him to be a distraction. His only job is to win games. Kap was stupid for opting out of a contract. Who does that now a days?
Because there is so much chatter down in Jacksonville anyways….. right? It’s gonna be like Tim Tebow playing minor league baseball, it will be a hot topic for a month or so and then it will die down.
Shady McCoy says he isn’t good enough for the distraction. This is a public forum so it is anyone’s business
And Jim Brown, an actual activist and one with a voice unlike Kap, says he would never disrespect the flag and anthem. His words basically kept saying Kaepernick is dumb.
He’d be the starter if the choices are Kaep or Chad Henne. Jags have a lot of weapons and a team good enough to sneak into the playoffs with competent QB play.
There is no way Tom Coughlin will take Colin Kaepernick. He is no-nonsense and will not want the circus that comes with Kaepernick.
I’d rather them give Allen a serious chance to take the job from the third string position. He showed some promise the last couple seasons, and would be better than Henne. If he doesn’t work out, then look outside, possibly towards Kap. As much as I hate to say it, anything is better than Bortles right now. Sucks, because I wanted his jersey after the rookie season. I told myself I’d wait till after his sophomore season to see if he was legit. He crushed it his 2nd year, so I bought one. Welp, that was a waste.
I’m sure if u asked all the other 31 owners….they’d say he was a nice fella too…..that n $7.95 will get u coffee at a fancy place….
Kaepernick doesn’t want anybody to call his bluff, he doesn’t have the heart to continue on and would rather fade away as a silent martyr. Why else would he opt out of a nice payday in SF to then try and sign elsewhere knowing those deals will come at a fraction of the price?
